Patent number: 5035274Abstract: An improved inflator for use in automated wheel/tire assembly lines is disclosed herein. The improved inflator incorporates temperature sensors to sense both the temperature of the compressed air used to inflate the tire and the ambient air temperature in response to which control means will adjust a base reference inflation pressure to compensate for these variables. A pressure sensor is also provided which serves to provide feed back information as to the actual pressure to which the tire is inflated.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1990Date of Patent: July 30, 1991Assignee: Dominion Tool & Die Co., Inc.Inventors: John F. Kinnick, Frank E. Lashier, Jr.

Patent number: 4771387Abstract: A method and apparatus for testing motor vehicle anti-skid braking systems is disclosed which is particularly well suited for production line verification of the anti-skid braking system integrity. The method comprises monitoring the operation of a pressure generating device which operates intermittently to generate brake actuating pressure independently of application of the vehicle brake pedal while simultaneously and cyclically applying a predetermined operating force to the vehicle brake pedal and measuring the distance of travel thereof for each successive operation. The first phase of the test procedure enables verification of the operation of the pressure generating device and associated controls therefor whereas the second phase of the test sequence verifies the absence of fluid or pressure leakage in another portion of the braking system.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 1986Date of Patent: September 13, 1988Assignee: Dominion Tool & Die Co.Inventors: Hans Hexel, Harold Marenbach

Patent number: 4563975Abstract: A mechanism for lifting wheels from a conveyor and positioning them in a wheel soaping mechanism. Also included is a device for rotating a lifted wheel through 360.degree. for presentation to a spray nozzle for soaping the wheel. The rotating mechanism is adapted to rotate each sequentially presented wheel in a direction opposite to that of the previously presented wheel.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 1983Date of Patent: January 14, 1986Assignee: Dominion Tool & Die Co.Inventors: Chester P. Kozlowski, Thomas J. Curcuri

Patent number: 4062472Abstract: A system for accurately mixing two or more liquids and for dispensing the mixture. The system is generally adapted for use in paint spraying operations. The flow of one of the components is accurately measured by means of a flow meter and the measured value provides a signal to control a valve which, in turn, controls the flow of the other liquid. Periodically the volume of the first mentioned liquid is measured for a given time period so as to make necessary adjustments in the flow meter-valve interconnection. An improved arrangement is provided for purging a mixing manifold immediately prior to the completion of the dispensing cycle so that none of the mixture will be wasted. The control arrangement includes improved air operated two and three-way valves.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 1976Date of Patent: December 13, 1977Assignee: Dominion Tool & Die Co., Inc.Inventor: Frank Taube
