Abstract: A visualization combination engine may be used to combine a first data visualization based on a first data set with a second data visualization based on a second data set. The combination process may be initiated by, for example, clicking and dragging the first data visualization onto the second data visualization. The visualization combination engine may create the combined data visualization without requiring the user to manually combine the first and second data sets. The combination may be carried out by identifying a key that is common between the two data sets and combining the first and second data sets into a combined data set based on the key, and then creating the combined data visualization based on the combined data set. One or more cues may be used during the process to provide helpful information and/or allow user selection of the properties of the combined data visualization.

Abstract: A cloud-based platform encrypts data imported from an organization using respective data encryption keys (DEK). The platform prevents decrypted data of the organization, and the DEK(s) used to encrypt such data, from being persistently retained within the platform. Access to the DEK may be controlled by the organization. Accordingly, the organization may retain control over access to its data, after the data has been exported to the platform. The platform may provide a purge control by which the organization can configure the platform the purge any cached DEK and/or unencrypted data pertaining to the organization.

A comparative graph is also made available, either automatically or in response to user input; the comparative graph presents each data entry according to its relative value as compared with one specific baseline entry.

Abstract: A data analysis system may automatically suggest data visualizations to a user. A primary data visualization may be displayed to graphically illustrate a primary data set of a database. Criteria may be automatically applied to the database to identify a secondary data set that meets the criteria. A secondary data visualization that graphically illustrates the secondary data visualization and/or a corresponding indicator may be displayed. Multiple visualizations and/or indicators may be displayed, and the user may select one for viewing. The criteria may again be applied to the database to identify a tertiary data set. An analysis path may be recorded to enable the user to easily view the decisions made and/or the data visualizations viewed. The criteria may include determination that the secondary data set has the desired amount of data, has unique data types or descriptors, includes data previously selected by the user, or the like.

Abstract: An alert may provide a user with notification when a trigger condition regarding the operation of an enterprise is satisfied. Prior to setting the alert, a proposed alert with the trigger condition may be received. The trigger condition may be compared with a database of operational data related to operation of the enterprise over a period of time to obtain historical trigger data. The historical trigger data may indicate how the proposed alert would have functioned if applied to the operational data for the period of time, for example, by indicating how many times the alert would have been triggered during the period of time. The historical trigger data may be provided to a user, and may facilitate user determination of whether the proposed alert will perform as desired. Once the desired proposed alert has been entered, the user may set the proposed alert as an actual alert.

Abstract: A messaging and collaboration system creates channels pertaining to respective resource objects, and provides users with access to channels in accordance with access controls of the resource objects. The messaging and collaboration system manages sub-conversations as channel threads. A messaging interface provides an organized view of the channels and threads to which are user has access, and ties such channels and/or threads to the resource objects to which they pertain.

Abstract: In various embodiments, an animation is displayed to indicate that displayed content shown within a display area is scrollable. For example, in at least one embodiment, when scrollable content is initially displayed within a display area, an animation is shown in which the display automatically scrolls through all or some of the content, so as to indicate to the user that there is more content to view. In at least one embodiment, the animation is relatively quick and transitory, so that it serves as a brief reminder of the presence of additional off-screen content that the user can scroll to. In at least one embodiment, the animation is only shown for particular content the first time the display renders that content; in another embodiment, the animation is repeated on subsequent re-rendering of the same content.

Abstract: A user can dynamically invoke and control the display of secondary data visualizations based on a selected element of a primary data visualization. Previews of the secondary data visualizations are presented as the user interacts with the primary visualization. In response to user input, previews can be dynamically expanded, allowing a user to dynamically “drill down” into selected elements of the primary data visualization. Any suitable input mechanism can be used, including for example, a gesture such as a two-finger spreading motion to invoke previews of available secondary visualizations, wherein the axis defined by two points of contact determines which of the displayed previews of secondary visualizations is highlighted and/or expanded. In various embodiments, a hierarchy of visualizations can be established, and the user can navigate among two or more levels of visualizations in the same interactive manner.

Abstract: Information is presented on a map that resembles a city map, with related information grouped into distinct “neighborhoods.” Such a display scheme takes advantage of spatial cognition in order to provide an organizational and presentational scheme by which users can more easily remember where to look for and find the right information. Metadata, notifications, and/or other auxiliary information can be presented alongside or superimposed upon the data itself.
