  • Publication number: 20140251143
Abstract: A gas turbine air filter system includes a housing having an interior, an inlet arrangement, and an outlet hood having an outlet arrangement. The inlet arrangement defines an inlet flow face for taking in unfiltered air. The outlet arrangement defines an outlet flow face for exiting filtered air. The inlet flow face and the outlet flow face are angled relative to each other. The angle can range between 45-135° relative to each other. The system includes at least first and second stages of filter element arrangements held within the interior of the housing. The first and second stages of filter element arrangements are operably sealed within the housing such that air flowing through the inlet arrangement must pass through the first and second stages of filter element arrangements before exiting through the outlet arrangement. The outlet hood is free of the first and second stages of filter element arrangements.

  • Publication number: 20140237959
Abstract: Air cleaner assemblies and components therefor are described. An example first or main filter cartridge is described which includes a media pack comprising strips of fluted material secured to facing sheets, oriented in a stack. The media pack defines opposite inlet and outlet flow faces, with flutes extending in a direction therebetween. The media pack is non-removably secured within a filter cartridge housing, at a location between opposite sections of a shell, typically secured thereto with an adhesive. The shell also defines a closed end, spaced from, but in overlap with, the outlet end face of the media pack. The closed end is typically curved and the shell typically provides either a d/b-shape or a u-shape. The filter includes an end member, with a outlet flow aperture arrangement therein, allowing for outlet flow from the filter cartridge in a general direction orthogonal to air flow through the media pack.

  • Publication number: 20140230411
Abstract: A method for causing exhaust gas flow to flow at least 270 degrees in a first direction about a perforated tube using a baffle plate having a main body with a plurality of flow-through openings and a plurality of louvers positioned adjacent to the flow-through openings. The method includes deflecting a first portion of the exhaust gas flow with the main body of the baffle plate. The method also includes allowing a second portion of the exhaust gas flow to flow through the flow-through openings of the baffle plate. The method also deflects the second portion of the exhaust gas flow at a downstream side of the main body with the louvers hereby causing the second portion of the exhaust gas flow to flow in the first direction about the perforated tube.

  • Patent number: 8808418
Abstract: A system for treating diesel exhaust is disclosed. The system includes a first filter including layers of filtration material positioned between layers of corrugated metallic foil. The metallic foil defines a honeycomb arrangement of longitudinal passageways from an upstream end to a downstream end and also openings for allowing exhaust to pass between adjacent longitudinal passageways of the metallic foil. The filtration material is positioned such that exhaust between the adjacent longitudinal passageways passes through the filtration material. The metallic foil also includes flow diverting structures to divert flow within the longitudinal passageways through the openings. A second filter is positioned downstream from the first filter. The second filter defines a honeycomb arrangement of longitudinal passageways. The longitudinal passages are selectively plugged adjacent upstream and downstream ends to force flow radially through walls between the longitudinal passages of the second filter.
