  • Patent number: 4945680
Abstract: Threshold system for a domestic door of the type comprising a pivotable panel, the threshold system including a stationary sill adn a weather-strip carrier mounted on the lower edge of the pivotable panel. When the pivotable panel is in the closed position, the sill and the weather-strip carrier are generally parallel and slightly spaced from one another along a vertical axis. The space between these elements is closed by two weather-strips mounted to the weather-strip carrier and extending on either side of a water-catch pan formed on the sill element. The water-catch pan collects water droplets passing through the outer weather-strip.

  • Patent number: 4922656
Abstract: The present invention relates to a sash window comprising a window frame made of wood and in which are mounted glazed sashes, at least one being slidable. On each jamb of the window frame is mounted a track with two pairs of guiding projections, each pair of projections being received in corresponding grooves provided on the sash frames. The guiding projections allow the sliding sash to move by translation in the window frame. The sliding sash may also be tilted out of the window frame by pulling the sash for disengaging the guiding projections from the corresponding guide grooves. When tilted, the sash remains attached to the window frame by a pair of runners received in the tracks on the jambs of the window frame.

  • Patent number: 4790108
Abstract: The present invention relates to a weather-strip to be used for doors or windows having sliding panels, more particularly on the meeting uprights of the panels. The weather-strip consists of a rigid base in the form of an inverted T from which two sealing wings run, generally parallel, each comprising an inner portion connected to the base, an outer portion and a curved intermediate part which connects the inner portion to the outer portion. The outer portion is offset in relation to the inner portion, in a generally transversal direction to the wings.

  • Patent number: 4702050
Abstract: A system for mounting a relatively thick multiple glazed sealed unit to a wooden sash assembly of a standard thickness. The system comprises a peripheral base member inserted between the glazed unit and the sash of the window and a retaining moulding engaged to the peripheral base member and pressing the glazed unit in the sash to hold it in place. A suitable weather strip is applied between the glazed unit and the retaining moulding to prevent air infiltration.

  • Patent number: 4674246
Abstract: A sliding window having two or more removable sashes each having a sash frame supporting a sealed doubled glazing unit, the sash frame having a sash head and a sash sill made from a thermally insulating plastic material extrusion presenting a hollow structure with two spaced apart guiding legs adapted to engage into and slide along corresponding head track and sill track members. The head track and sill track members provide a pair of guide grooves for the slidable sash and a pair of guide grooves of the same spacing for the fixed sash. A runner or a plurality of runners of appropriate anti-friction material may be disposed between the guiding legs of the sash sill and they bear upon a horizontal bearing surface provided on the sill track between the guide grooves of the corresponding pair thereof. The runners prevent contact between the guiding legs of the sash sill and the bottom of the guide grooves of the sill track.

  • Patent number: 4633616
Abstract: A system of sliding doors commonly called patio-doors, having a wooden structure and well adapted for a household use. This device comprises a wooden rectangular frame receiving two glazed panels, one of which is sliding. The latter is supported on its lower portion by rollers. In the upper portion of the movable panel, the guiding system is constituted by a spring-loaded runner, preferably a channel whose two flanges extend into two parallel grooves on the top of the slidable panel. To remove the sliding panel from the frame supporting it, the operator lowers the retractable runner; this releases the upper portion of the panel from the frame and allows it to swing outwardly. A safety device is provided to prevent accidental removal of the upper portion of the sliding panel from the frame. Also described is a patio-door unit comprising two sets of glazed panels, each having one sliding panel.

  • Patent number: 4510715
Abstract: A weather strip for doors and windows of the casement and awning types, primarily for domestic use, and the like, made of two different thermoplastic materials, one being relatively flexible but having sufficient mechanical rigidity so as to prevent shrinking or stretching of the weather strip when installed, and the other being considerably more supple and flexible. The weather strip has a T-shaped base with anchoring means on the vertical bar of the T-shaped base, and two supple wings made of the more flexible material, extending parallel to one another but spaced apart and secured to the opposite end portions of the horizontal bar of the T-shaped base. This weather strip, which can also take some other forms, particularly in respect of its gripping leg, defines between its supple wings an air space which constitutes an excellent thermal barrier between inside and outside conditions which is particularly useful in cold climates.

  • Patent number: 4400923
Abstract: A catch member adapted to be secured to the end of a grille member for securing same to a window parallel to the inner surface thereof. The window sash presents inwardly facing surfaces which have longitudinally extending shallow grooves forming seats of the catch members. The catch members comprise a stem and a head portion integrally formed therewith. The head portion has a base from whose lower surface the stem depends, and an arcuate arm flexibly secured to the base along one edge thereof. The arcuate arm overlies the base and its major portion is spaced apart from the upper surface of the base whereby it can yield when the window grille is being fitted to or removed from the window. The arcuate arm is curved in one direction and flat in the opposite direction.
