  • Patent number: 4161856
Abstract: A suspension ceiling system is disclosed which includes main tee members and cross tee members which can be assembled in a variety of relationships. The main tee members are provided with similar first end connections at each end and the cross tee members are provided with similar second end connectors at each end. The main tee and cross tee members can be end connected to produce main runs consisting of alternate main tee members and cross tee members. The cross tees can also be assembled through openings provided in the webs of both types of members to produce cross runs consisting solely of cross tee members. In the illustrated embodiment the second end connectors of the cross tees can be connected in three ways. They can be connected to first end connectors of the main tees, connected through a cross tee opening without a similar second end connector extending from the other side and can be connected to a second end connector extending in the opposite direction through the same cross tee opening.

  • Patent number: 4113219
Abstract: A pedestal assembly for supporting elevated floors having means for adjusting its height in the form of a generally triangular wedge. The wedge is horizontally displaceable on the assembly to cam an upper carrier element of the assembly into a desired elevation. The assembly is provided with self-locking means to maintain the wedge and carrier elements in their selected positions. The self-locking means comprises a taper lock and supplementary locking teeth operative on the wedge in response to loading applied thereto through the carrier element.

  • Patent number: 4108563
Abstract: A suspension ceiling system having an improved connecting system comprising a pair of similar ends on crossbeam connectors which are received through a single slot opening in a main beam in side-by-side relationship by a straight- in movement. Projections the crossbeam connectors interlock when fully engaged and prevent axial movement in either direction. A tab on each connector holds the first-inserted end in place prior to the insertion of the second connector.

  • Patent number: 4086480
Abstract: An integrated suspension ceiling and recessed lighting fixture system is disclosed in which a fixture is supported primarily on arched bridging members which extend between parallel runs of the grid of the suspension ceiling. The bridging members lock at their ends in the runs and maintain a predetermined spacing between the runs thus permitting relatively long uninterrupted fixtures to be installed in the suspension ceiling. The bridging members also support a continuous channel or raceway which permits the fixture to be wired as a unit regardless of its total length. A reflector is supported by flanges of the inverted tees constituting the runs along the sides of the fixture so separate framing is not required. With the invention recessed lighting fixtures of substantially any desired length may be installed in a suspension ceiling system.

  • Patent number: 4067156
Abstract: A panel for elevated access floors is disclosed in which the panel is formed of reinforced expanded lightweight concrete. The reinforcing is provided by a grid including two arrays of parallel reinforcing rods which extend parallel to the associated panel edges and perpendicular to the rods of the other grid. A frame is provided by the grid around the two arrays. The grid is located adjacent to the lower surface of the body and divides the body into a plurality of square zones. Located in each zone, excepting the zones at the corners, is a pyramid-shaped cavity which extends from a base at the lower surface of the panel upwardly at about 45.degree. to an apex spaced from the upper surface of the panel. The presence of the pyramid-shaped cavities does not materially reduce the strength of the panel when compared to a similar panel without such cavities, but reduces the weight of the panel and the material required to manufacture the panel.
