The controller of the mobile terminal is configured to detect a selective action by a user, attempt to communicate with the telecare terminal using short-range wireless communication in response to the detected action, and if the communication was successful, cause transmittal of an assistance request for a first telecare service and if not, cause transmittal of an assistance request for a second telecare service.
