  • Patent number: 4205736
Abstract: The contact pole of a trolley bus carries at its normally upper end a trolley shoe and an upwardly projecting guide which may jointly pivot on the pole about an approximately vertical axis. When the pole is partly raised by a heavy spring and swung horizontally, the trolley shoe is vertically aligned with an overhead wire when the guide abuts against the wire. When the pole is further raised by the spring, the trolley shoe engages the wire, and the guide is automatically dropped below the trolley shoe so as not to collide with hangers for the overhead wire. When the pole is lowered by an operating mechanism against the biasing force of the spring, a motor-driven element of the mechanism connected to the guide by a motion transmitting train automatically returns the guide to its position above the trolley shoe.

  • Patent number: 4193253
Abstract: A coating of a thermally hardened alloy of nickel and a nickel-phosphorus compound covers the internal face portions of a spinning pot which are engaged by the fibrous material being spun. The alloy produced from an electroless nickel plating solution is rolled to improve surface smoothness and density, and the rolled coating is heat treated to precipitate a portion of the phosphorus present in the form of a finely dispersed nickel-phosphorus compound. Silicon carbide may be dispersed in the coating to further increase its hardness.

  • Patent number: 4022008
Abstract: A bearing arrangement for the pot of a centrifugal yarn spinning unit has a housing in whose cavity a radial bearing and an axial thrust bearing for the shaft of the pot are arranged. The radial bearing is fixedly mounted on a carrier which plugs an opening of the housing. The carrier is sealed to the housing by O-rings, and the shaft journaled in the bearings is received in a passage of the carrier provided with a packing in fixed spatial relationship with the radial bearing. Wear of the packing is minimized by the permanent guidance provided to the shaft by the radial bearing although the shaft may oscillate radially with the carrier during its high-speed rotation.

  • Patent number: 4013170
Abstract: A shipping container of molded plastic in whose cavity a load is suspended between sets of three rubber straps diverging from the load toward respective rigid base members on the shell in angularly offset planes, the central strap of each set being less resilient than the two other straps. The straps impede transmission of mechanical shock from the shell to load, and their different resiliencies prevent build-up of load oscillations. The shell protects the load against harmful effects of the atmosphere.
