Abstract: A petroleum recovery pumping system comprising an improved jet pump having a nozzle assembly adapted to be selectively and reversibly installed in either an up-flow or down-flow direction, and a shoe adapted to receive and seat the jet pump adjacent to a producing zone within a well bore. The shoe is preferably further adapted to provide fluid communication between the producing zone and a power fluid discharged through a nozzle section within the jet pump. The shoe is preferably further adapted by means of circumferentially spaced, longitudinally extending passageways to provide fluid flow in an axial direction around the jet pump.
