  • Publication number: 20080266888
Abstract: A control for a vehicle mounted accessory that has an electrically operable device. The accessory is operated by a switch that is mounted on the vehicle remote from the accessory. The switch and the electrically operable device are electrically connected by programmable controllers and a communications bus. The control has the capability of automatically determining the presence of a vehicle DRL mode, and the accessory turn signal lights are automatically illuminated to provide an accessory DRL mode. The control can automatically detect different accessories and reprogram itself to control them. The control provides a secured communications link between it and the accessory to prevent accessory theft.

  • Patent number: 7430821
Abstract: A snowplow and mount assembly comprising a mount frame adapted to be secured to a vehicle, and a snowplow frame. One of the mount frame and the snowplow frame has first and second arms and the other of the mount frame and snowplow frame has first and second receivers, the first and second receivers receiving the first and second arms, respectively. Respective ones of first and second latch pins removably secure the first and second arms in the first and second receivers. A latch lever is operably associated with the first and second latch pins and simultaneously actuates the latch pins to latched and unlatched positions. The snowplow frame includes a jack stand movable to and between an extended ground contacting and snowplow frame supporting position and a retracted ground noncontacting and snowplow frame nonsupporting position.

  • Publication number: 20070068049
Abstract: A plow assembly includes a pair of plow wings which are pivotally mounted at opposite ends of a center plow. Each of the plow wings may pivot between a forwardly angled position and an aligned position. The plow assembly may pivot a trailing plow wing in response to the center plow being urged or angled toward that side of the vehicle. The plow wines may be oriented in their forwardly angled position until the center plow is at least substantially urged or pivoted toward its angled position or toward a position between the center position and the angled position. The trailing plow wing may be pivoted or urged to its aligned position in response to the center plow being substantially urged or pivoted toward its angled position or toward a position between its center position and its angled position.

  • Patent number: 7152883
Abstract: A ballast assembly for vehicles is mounted on one vehicle portion to balance the vehicle and counterbalance the weight of an implement such as a snowplow assembly on another portion of the vehicle. The ballast assembly includes a ballast member having a predetermined weight and a contour coordinated to the vehicle shape. A vehicle mounting member removably mounts the ballast member to the vehicle such as at a hitch receiver socket or to the vehicle frame at the rear end of the vehicle. The ballast member may comprise one or more metal plates stacked and secured to one another, or a hollow enclosure either temporarily or permanently filled with a weighted material such as sand, gravel, or concrete.

  • Publication number: 20060005434
Abstract: A snowplow assembly comprises a lift frame and A-frame operably pivotally connected together and an actuator operably connected between the lift frame and A-frame for effecting relative pivotal movement between the lift frame and A-frame. A plow blade includes a blade frame. The blade frame includes a tube of circular cross section which is operably pivotally connected to the A-frame. The tube is pivotally received by a quadrant, which is operably connected to the A-frame. A resilient element is operable between the blade frame and A-frame normally biasing a lower edge of the plow blade forwardly. The resilient element is an elastomeric loop. The pivotal connection of the plow blade to the A-frame in combination with the resilient element provides a trip function of the plow blade. The plow blade is a composite. The circular tube of the blade frame provides torsional stiffness to the composite blade.
