Patent number: 6015168Abstract: A locking mechanism for securing a cam arm of a coupling member in a locked position to prevent inadvertent rotation of the cam arm. The locking mechanism includes a locking member that is pivotally connected to the cam arm and is adapted to selectively interface with a portion of a coupling member. The locking mechanism is easy to clean and maintain and allows for the unlocking of a cam arm in one continuous motion.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1997Date of Patent: January 18, 2000Assignee: Dover Corp.Inventor: Richard L. Patent number: 5950860Abstract: An adjustable length storage tank sump for attachment to an underground storage tank is provided. The storage tank sump is formed from a body having a polygonal lower portion with a chamber, an interconnecting conical middle portion, and an upper portion having a plurality of formations and an opening disposed thereon. The formations are axially spaced along the longitudinal axis of the body so that a predetermined number of the formations can be selectively removed during installation, thereby reducing the length of the storage tank sump. A sealing surface is provided on each formation so that a single seal can be installed on the formation closest the opening. An attachment structure, which is interchangeable among the formations, removably engages the formation closest to the opening. A removable lid for covering the opening is provided, the lid engaging the attachment structure such that the lid sealingly contacts the seal.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 1996Date of Patent: September 14, 1999Assignee: Dover Corp.Inventors: James Kesterman, Peter E. Patent number: 5819975Abstract: A dispenser sump which includes a deflection surface and a distribution channel for distributing liquids about the interior periphery of the sump to allow insertion of fluid removal apparatus along any wall of the sump. The sump also provides increased structural rigidity to support backfill surrounding the sump and to maintain shape integrity.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 1996Date of Patent: October 13, 1998Assignee: Dover Corp.Inventors: David Pendleton, James Kesterman

Patent number: 5813797Abstract: A unitary sump frame made from a continuous material is disclosed. A substantially planar and continuous flange has an inner perimeter defining an opening in the frame and an outer perimeter. A lip is integrally connected to the flange and extends downwardly from the flange. The lip includes a securing mechanism that is operative to attach a component to the frame. A lug is integrally connected to the lip and extends away from the opening. The lug is operative for anchoring the frame.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 1997Date of Patent: September 29, 1998Assignee: Dover Corp.Inventors: David Pendleton, John Joseph Matracia

Patent number: 5699823Abstract: A breakaway coupling including first and second coupling parts secured together by releasable means, the releasable means permitting separation of the coupling parts in a given direction when exposed to a separating force in excess of a predetermined force in said direction, at least one of the coupling parts including valve means, the valve means being normally retained at an open position and being movable to a closed position when said coupling parts move apart in said direction, the valve means comprising an annular valve seat formed in said one coupling part, a valve element which when seated on the valve seat prevents fluid flow through said one coupling part, the valve element being movably mounted within the coupling part for movement between open and closed positions, the valve element when at said open position being spaced from the valve seat to permit flow of fluid through the coupling part and when at said closed position being seated upon the valve seat to prevent fluid flow through the couplingType: GrantFiled: September 20, 1996Date of Patent: December 23, 1997Assignee: Dover Corp.Inventor: Jack Gall Thomson
