  • Patent number: 5511583
Abstract: A valve for intake or exhaust of gas with respect to a compressor comprises a seating plate and a guard plate releasably attached in opposed relation. The seating plate has a plurality of clusters of holes extending from an outer side of the seating plate thereinto, the holes of each cluster being arranged along a respective circular locus and communicating with respective seating surfaces opening through an inner side of the seating plate. The clusters are non-concentrically spaced from one another about the seating plate. The guard plate defines a respective stop surface generally opposed to but spaced from the seating surfaces associated with each such cluster of holes. The guard plate also has flow passages therethrough from an inner side thereof to an outer side and communicating with the spaces between the stop surfaces and the seating surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5346136
Abstract: A fuel injection valve for an engine comprises a tubular housing having a central throughway. An axially directed valve seat defines an outlet from the throughway. At least one housing fuel inlet communicates the exterior of the housing with the throughway outwardly of the seat. A sealing section outwardly of the housing fuel inlet includes an internal annular enlargement in the central throughway. A housing buffer inlet communicates the exterior of the housing with the enlargement. An inert, nonflammable buffer gas is injected through the housing buffer inlet. A valve stem is mounted for reciprocation in the throughway and has a valve element for cooperation with the seat. First and second annular housing seals are disposed between the valve stem and the housing, respectively inwardly and outwardly of the downstream end of the housing buffer inlet.

  • Patent number: 5253946
Abstract: A connector to secure to the end of a cylindrical rod or cylindrical wire. The connector includes an elongated body having a receptacle with a cylindrical wall. A plurality of axially aligned tapered annuluses, coaxial with the receptacle, extend from the cylindrical wall into the body. Each annulus has a cross-section tangentially approaching the cylindrical wall at one end and an arcuate opposite end.

  • Patent number: 5141416
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a plunger for a downhole reciprocating oil well pump for use in sandy environments including the step of machining a metal plunger to the required base configuration with an external cylindrical pump surface having a diameter of about 0.025 inches less than the design diameter, grit blasting the plunger cylindrical pump surface to achieve a textured surface thereon, heating the plunger, flame spraying a thin layer of ceramic composite on the plunger cylindrical pump surface, repeating the flame spraying steps sequentially until the diameter of the cylindrical pump surface having the ceramic composite thereon is about 0.015 to 0.020 inches above the design diameter, cooling the plunger and grinding the ceramic covered plunger pump surface to the design diameter.

  • Patent number: 4836091
Abstract: A spring actuated plunger work support seeks variable tolerance level of workpiece and is hydraulically locked in place to provide resistance to workpiece deflection imposed by processing loads. A collet with independent steel segments in a molded rubber body are preloaded in assembly and actuated by conical ended hydraulic piston having minimum travel to lock the work supporting plunger.

  • Patent number: 4822265
Abstract: A rotary sliding vane fluid pump having an open rotor and radially extended arms forming slots that support the radially extending vanes. The relative position of the vanes and the inlet and discharge ports provide sealing by the vanes to the pump housing whereas the surface of the rotor does not seal to the pump housing so that radial rotor clearance is not critical. The rotor can be manufactured and assembled at lower cost. The rotor shape uses a minimum of material so that it is lower in weight and gives good pressure loading of the vanes. The open rotor is without closed voids to allow quick draining of the pump.

  • Patent number: 4793602
Abstract: Air pressure actuated locking gripper stack clamp wherein in a pair of gripper arms are equally and oppositely actuated by a central piston rod and track follower means with needle reaction bearings connected to the inner ends of a pair of arm actuating links. An oval air cylinder with major axis in the plane of gripper arm actuation accommodates installation in narrow space and compact stacking of multiple clamps.

  • Patent number: 4700738
Abstract: An improved liquid level controller having a housing, a body connecting from the rear of the housing for connecting directly to a vessel and to allow transmission of forces exerted by the displacer type float within the vessel responsive to changes in the level of liquid therein through the housing to a shaft having rotation about an axis extending horizontally and parallel to the rear of the housing, a torque bar pivotally mounted near its center to the body, means for imparting the rotational force of said shaft as an upward force to one side of the torque bar, means biasing the torque bar in a direction to maintain it in contact with and balance the force from said force imparting means, a control means having a supply and an output for actuating a liquid control, a proportional band mechanism including a lever pivotally mounted to said housing at one end and having a fulcrum member slidably mounted thereon for engaging said torque bar to transmit the slight motion of said torque bar in balancing the force
