  • Patent number: 5820944
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a curable composition which comprises a) a N-substituted 4-(o-nitrophenyl)dihydropyridine which constitutes a base-generating substance that is caused to generate a base by the action of ultraviolet light, and (b) a silicone polymer (R.sub.2 SiO.sub.2/2)(RSiO.sub.3/2) containing silicon-hydrogen bonds (Si--H) which are capable of reacting with hydroxy groups to form silicon-oxygen bonds (Si--O) and hydrogen molecules (H.sub.2) under the effect of the base. This composition is cured by irradiation with ultraviolet light. Patterns are formed by placing a mask between a coating film of the composition and the ultraviolet light source during the irradiation with ultraviolet light, and then dissolving and removing the uncured portions of the composition following said irradiation.

  • Patent number: 5789460
Abstract: Curable compositions comprising a substance that produces a base when exposed to radiation and a polymer molecule that contains silicon-hydrogen bonds which react with hydroxyl groups under the action of the base to form silicon-oxygen bonds (Si--O) and hydrogen molecules. These compositions cure when exposed to radiation. A pattern can be formed by placing a mask between a coating of the composition and the radiation source during this exposure episode and thereafter dissolving the uncured composition. The compositions have little weight loss during their cure, they can be cured by low intensity radiation, and they yield heat-resistant cured products.

  • Patent number: 5712360
Abstract: The invention provides a method for manufacturing a polysiloxane resin with charge transporting properties by uniformly bonding charge transporting groups in effective concentration within a polysiloxane resin. The charge transporting groups are formed in the resin by cohydrolyzing and condensing silane monomers with an aromatically substituted tertiary amine which has been modified by substitution of one or more of the aromatic rings with a hydrocarbon group containing a silyl group bearing hydrolyzable substituents. Tertiary amines have ionization potentials of 4.5 to 6.2 volts.

  • Patent number: 5708099
Abstract: The invention is an optically transparent organopolysiloxane resin with a large amount of a uniformly dissolved and dispersed optically-functional organic material. The compatibility of the optically functional material is achieved by modifying it by addition of alkoxysilylalkyl groups to aromatic groups of optically-functional organic compounds such phthalocyanines, porphyrins, tetraphenylbutadienes, axobenzenes, bis(4-dimethylaminodithiobenzyl)nickel and anthracenes. The compositions contain 20 to 200 parts by weight of the modified optically-functional organic compounds per 100 parts by weight of the organopolysiloxane resin. The composition may be formed into a specified shape, solvents evaporated, and cured by heat.

  • Patent number: 5688961
Abstract: A method of manufacturing charge transporting materials which impart a charge transporting property to a polysiloxane resin, and which is soluble in the resin. The charge transporting material is an aromatic substituted tertiary amine with a plurality of aromatic groups, and a silyl group introduced via a hydrocarbon group, into at least one of the aromatic groups. The method is characterized by using an unsaturated aliphatic group bonded to an aromatic group which makes up the silicon-type charge transporting compound, or using a newly bonded unsaturated aliphatic group which is bonded to a silane in which the substituent for silicon is hydrogen or a hydrolyzable group. This is conducted in the presence of a platinum compound as catalyst by means of hydrosilylation. The silicon-type charge transporting material is then brought into contact with an adsorbent for the platinum compound, causing the platinum compound to be adsorbed onto the adsorbent.
