  • Publication number: 20050236039
Abstract: Injectable structural adhesives, methods of using the same, and products formed therewith, are described. The adhesive is introduced through a first opening into an internal cavity formed between two or more components. The adhesive is then permitted or forced to flow through the internal cavity, substantially filling the cavity, until it reaches a second spaced opening. • Patent number: 6955461
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a tickler impeller and agitation system for use in stirred slurry reactors and storage tanks. The tickler impeller when mounted on a shaft is effective for providing an inward and downward swirl in a slurry medium which directs solids suspended in the slurry towards the bottom of the tank and towards the shaft on which the impeller is mounted. Directing solids suspended in a slurry downwards and towards the center of the tank rather than pushing those solids away from the center reduces solid deposits on the side of the tank, facilitates draining of the tank, and reduces nozzle starving and pump starvation.

  • Publication number: 20050214321
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved process for the production of recombinant peptides by fusion of recombinant peptides with icosahedral viral capsids and expression of the fusion in bacterial cells of Pseudomonad origin. The Pseudomonad cells support formation of virus like particles from icosahedral viral capsids in vivo, and allow the inclusion of larger recombinant peptides as monomers or concatamers in the virus like particle. The invention specifically provides cells expressing viral capsid fusions, nucleic acids encoding fusions of toxic proteins with icosahedral viral capsids and processes for manufacture of recombinant proteins.

  • Patent number: 6949588
Abstract: Thermoplastic polymer foams having sound deadening properties satisfactory for demanding applications are provided which have mechanical strength, which are economical to manufacture, and which are hydrolytically stable. Methods of preparing these foams are also provided. The foams are useful in sound management, cushion packaging, filtering, and fluid absorption and exhibit one or more of the following properties: 1) average cell size greater than about 2 mm; 2) substantially open-cell structure and 3) relatively large pores connecting the cells. In order that the foam be acoustically active, the foam should possess a substantially open-cell structure and a relatively low airflow resistivity. Foams with substantially open-cell structure and relatively low airflow resistivity are prepared by mechanically opening a foam having an average cell size greater than about 2 mm. In most cases, such mechanical opening creates relatively large pores connecting the cells.
