Patent number: 11111747Abstract: A delivery tool creates relative axial movement to retract a retaining sleeve from an adaptive seat so that the adaptive seat can release from the delivery tool and find support in a tubular string. The relative movement is created directly with a power charge acting on a piston attached to the retaining sleeve. Movement of the retaining sleeve releases support dogs that position the delivery tool when releasing the adaptive seat. The adaptive seat is protected for running in with a collapsible ring structure that passes through the adaptive seat opening when the delivery tool is pulled out of the hole. The retaining sleeve is replaced and the power charge is renewed to allow the delivery tool to be used more than once.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2018Date of Patent: September 7, 2021Assignee: DISRUPTIVE DOWNHOLE TECHNOLOGIES, LLCInventor: Stephen L. Patent number: 11060393Abstract: A shock isolated gamma probe attenuates axial, lateral, and torsional shocks to a gamma sensor package. A gamma sensor is inserted into and fixed to a tubular cartridge. The cartridge is closed with a cap and keyed at the other end. The cartridge is inserted into a resilient sleeve having an extension at the closed end to conform to the key on the cartridge. The open end of the resilient sleeve is closed with a gasket. The sleeve/cartridge assembly are inserted into a tubular structure on a first chassis. The first chassis has a keying structure for the key and extension of the resilient on an end bulkhead. The cartridge and first chassis are resiliently engaged to attenuate shocks. A second bulkhead, on a second chassis, closes the open end of the tubular structure on the first chassis.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2020Date of Patent: July 13, 2021Assignee: Rime Downhole Technologies, LLCInventor: Manoj Gopalan

Patent number: 11015415Abstract: A filament-reinforced composite material having with load-aligned filament windings enables improvement of mechanical properties for specific loading of parts made from the material. The orientation of the winding within the part may be changed depending on an orientation of an external load to the part. In one example, the part may be a slip in a frac plug or a bridge plug in a downhole application.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2018Date of Patent: May 25, 2021Assignee: Nine Downhole Technologies, LLCInventors: Donald Roy Greenlee, Donald Jonathan Greenlee, Brian David Oligschlaeger

Patent number: 10982492Abstract: A shock isolator device for use in a downhole tool attenuates axial shocks to a protected structure and maintains that structure's rotational orientation to the tool while reducing damage to, maintenance costs of, and wear on, the device components. The shock isolator device interposes an internally- and externally-splined key between an internally-splined sleeve on an anti-rotation section and an externally-splined plunger attached to a connector. The key is less wear-resistant than the sleeve or plunger and can be replaced. The meshed sleeve, key, and plunger force the protected structure attached to the connector to maintain its rotational orientation. The sleeve of the anti-rotation system is attached to a shock damper, which damps axial shocks between the plunger and the sleeve, and is connected to a second connector. The shock damper includes a spring assembly and a viscous damper using a piston in an oil-filled cylinder forcing oil through an orifice.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2020Date of Patent: April 20, 2021Assignee: RIME Downhole Technologies, LLCInventor: Manoj Gopalan

Patent number: 10934836Abstract: Disclosed are methods for transmitting data to a downhole tool. The methods include the option of confirming receipt and implementation of the transmitted data by the downhole tool. The disclosed methods utilize changes in RPM of the tool to convey the data through three separate changes in RPM. The changes in RPM are used to generate pulses suitable for identifying preprogrammed actions found within the memory of the downhole tool.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2018Date of Patent: March 2, 2021Assignee: Doublebarrel Downhole Technologies LLCInventors: Curtis Lanning, Sassan Dehlavi, Jeff Kurthy

Patent number: 10927634Abstract: A coiled adaptive seat is held to a smaller diameter for delivery with a tool that features a locating lug for desired alignment of the seat with an intended groove in the inner wall of a tubular. The release tool retracts a cover from the seat allowing its diameter to increase as it enters a groove. Alternatively the adaptive seat is released near the groove and pushed axially in the string to the groove for fixation. Once in the groove the inside diameter of the string is a support for a blocking object so that sequential treatment of parts of a zone can be accomplished. The blocking object is removed with pressure, dissolving, milling or disintegration leaving a narrow ledge in the tubular bore from the seat that can simply be left in place or milled as well. An E4 #10 from Baker Hughes is modified for adaptive seat delivery.Type: GrantFiled: January 15, 2019Date of Patent: February 23, 2021Assignee: DISRUPTIVE DOWNHOLE TECHNOLOGIES, LLCInventors: Stephen L. Crow, Clint Frost

Patent number: 10689976Abstract: An asynchronous top-mounted pulser system for a measurement while drilling tool uses hydraulic flow, an obstruction, a piston-balance system, and an orifice, to create pressure pulses in drilling fluid, using hydraulic pressure on an obstruction in a main pulser to assist in closing the obstruction. A valve poppet is set above (upstream of) the orifice and is pushed by fluid flow towards a closing position. The piston-balance system, connected to the poppet and located downstream of the orifice in the main pulser, responds to net pressures on the upstream and downstream sides of the piston to move the poppet. The piston also responds to a spring assembly urging the piston downstream, and tending to move the valve poppet to a closed position. A servo pulser, located downstream of the main pulser, opens and closes a rotary shear servo valve-controlled bypass flow path to control the net pressures on the piston.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2019Date of Patent: June 23, 2020Assignee: Rime Downhole Technologies, LLCInventor: Manoj Gopalan
