  • Patent number: 5150270
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a transformer circuit apparatus which receives an input signal and generates an output signal representative of the input signal. For example, the input signal may be an AC current, and the output signal to be generated may be a voltage that is proportional to the current. A transformer is provided, and has a core, a primary winding for receiving the input signal, a sense winding, and a feedback winding. A first circuit is coupled to the sense winding, and is responsive to the magnetic flux sensed by the sensed winding, for applying a signal to the feedback winding that tends to reduce the flux sensed by the sense winding. A feedback circuit is provided, and includes a low-pass filter, for feeding back a signal that depends on the output signal to the first circuit means. A circuit is provided for determining the presence of input signal offsets, and for generating offset indication signals in response thereto.

  • Patent number: 4939617
Abstract: The invention is directed to an improved method and apparatus for monitoring the status of an AC electrical transmission line connected between first and second locations. In a disclosed embodiment of the method of the invention, first signal parameter values are generated, for the first location, by time integrating between zero-crossings of an AC signal parameter measured at the first location. Second signal parameter values are generated, for the second location, by time integrating between zero-crossings of the AC signal parameter measured at the second location. The second signal parameter values are transmitted to the first location. In a form of this embodiment, the second signal parameter values transmitted for each of the three phases are transmitted only for time periods between successive zero-crossings beginning with a zero-crossing of one sense (e.g.

  • Patent number: 4730230
Abstract: An apparatus and method for degaussing a magnetic storage medium, such as a reel of magnetic tape, is disclosed. A pair of opposing E-laminations have windings on their respective center legs. A reel of magnetic tape is inserted in the region between the E-laminations, and is rotated. An AC potential is coupled in series across the windings, to obtain a first magnetic field orientation in the region between the E-laminations. The direction of connection of one of the windings of the series arrangement is then reversed, to electrically alter the magnetic field orientation. This provides an effective degaussing of the magnetic tape.
