  • Patent number: 4213632
Abstract: An independently suspended wheel rear axle suspension for motor vehicles of the torsion spring type is improved by the provision of a bolster that is designed for reducing the suspension space requirements, while providing optimal noise damping and stable wheel guidance. The improved bolster includes, according to a preferred embodiment, a thrust bearing, a rigid longitudinal support that is connected to the vehicle body by the thrust bearing for providing only vibration insulation and guiding, a support bearing, and a resilient spring member connected to the vehicle body by the support bearing for receiving the preponderant torque of the torsion spring and the vehicle weight, while providing vibration insulation. The longitudinal support means is mounted so as to be elastically displaceable under the influence of forces in the vehicle longitudinal direction, while being relatively rigid under the influence of forces in the vehicle transverse direction.

  • Patent number: 4213945
Abstract: Industrial waste gases containing sulfur dioxide, hydrogen fluoride, hydrochloric acid and sulfur trioxide are treated within a reaction tank in a first stage with a solution containing ammonium ions to increase the dew point of the gases. The gases are then cooled below the elevated dew point in a second stage below which a deflector system directs the gases along the wall of the reaction tank into a third stage where the gases are cooled by a spray mist of an ammonia mixture to form ammonium salts. The gases are then treated in a fourth stage at the bottom of the reaction tank with the solution containing ammonium ions to precipitate ammonium salts into a reservoir below the reaction tank. Purified waste gases are discharged into a cooler where a stripper removes entrained droplets of liquid before discharge into the atmosphere. The droplet size of the solution sprayed into the second stage is larger than the droplet size of the solution sprayed into the first stage.

  • Patent number: 4213557
Abstract: A method for producing a highly precise and inherently stable analyzer system for a multipole mass filter, wherein a tube of material that is electrically poorly conductive and thermally softenable is put over a core which is precise in size, has a higher expansion coefficient and has parallel grooves. The tube material is joined to the grooves of the core by heating and, subsequently, after cooling for the purposes of solidifying, is removed from the core with the impressed tube indentations. Before the tube is heated, layers of electrically higher conductive metallic components, which can be easily connected to the softenable tube material, are applied between the core and the tube in the region of the grooves. The layer material is connected to the tube material when the tube is softened and joined to the grooves of the tube. When removing the tube that has been shaped in this manner, the layers connected to the impressed tube indentations are also removed from the core.

  • Patent number: 4212050
Abstract: A retractable searchlight for vehicles of the type which is movable from a working position to a retracted position includes at least one searchlight supported by a supporting device mounted upon a shaft which is rotatably driven by a motor. The supporting device is formed of at least two members, a first of which is secured to the shaft for movement therewith and a second of which is secured to the searchlight and is mounted so as to be displaceable relative to the shaft. Between the first and second members a disengagement means is located for enabling the second member connected to the searchlight to be displaced with the first member between the working a retracted positions during normal operation and for disengaging the first member from the second member when the searchlight encounters a resistance so that continued movement of the searchlight is interrupted thereby precluding injury to the arrangement or persons standing nearby.

  • Patent number: 4206181
Abstract: Apparatus for continuously separating sulfur from an aqueous sulfur suspension which is heated above the melting point of sulfur. The apparatus comprises a pressure vessel having heating and stirring devices in its upper part, the lower part of the vessel serving as a settling tank where sulfur is precipitated out of the aqueous solution and withdrawn through an outlet in the bottom of the vessel. Inclined separator plates extend within an outer annular chamber formed between the vessel and heating device. Intermediate the upper and lower parts of the vessel is a substantially horizontal, shallow conical partition which has apertures or slots therein to permit the suspension to pass from the upper part to the lower part. A steam-heated jacket surrounds the vessel. Pressure sensing devices are utilized to maintain the level of the water in the top part and the boundary surface between the water phase and the sulfur phase in the bottom part at desired heights.
