    Abstract: A method for producing a rope, wherein fiber bundles are applied with a liquefied matrix material upstream of and/or at a twisting point to form fiber strands, and are embedded into the liquefied matrix material during stranding, by which fiber strands a fiber core of the rope is formed and wires or wire strands are wound about the fiber core. The matrix material of the fiber strands is hardened after the stranding, and the fiber strands are subsequently stranded directly with one another without further application to form the fiber core. Preferably the fiber strands are heated, during or after the stranding thereof to form the fiber core, so that the matrix material softens at least individual of the fiber strands, preferably all the fiber strands, softens and connects with the matrix material of another of the fiber strands, and is subsequently hardened, forming an integral bond with one another.

The sleeve is pressed, hammered and/or rolled onto the wire rope and, optionally, onto the connecting element to produce a form-locked connection. Outer strands of the wire rope are separated from the wire rope in a rope section, in which the wire rope is arranged inside the sleeve, and the sleeve is connected to ends of the outer strands at its one edge.

The core strand is hammered before stranding of the braid strands in order to smooth the surface thereof. A plastic layer is applied to the core strand before stranding of the braid strands. The braid strands are pressed into the plastic layer while the plastic layer is heated. The core strand is a core cable and the braid strands are strands of the wire cable or the core strand is a heart strand and the braid strands are outer core strands of a core cable of the wire cable. A greater breaking strength of the wire cable is obtained by hammering the core strand in order to smooth it than by compacting a core strand with a roller compressor.
