  • Patent number: 12101431
Abstract: A method for wireless policy enforcement of an MDM device according to the detection of a preselected state is provided. In one embodiment, the method includes providing a software application for execution by the MDM device, such that the MDM device determines whether or not the preselected state is present. If the preselected state is present, the software application is further operable to notify an MDM server, which then pushes temporary policy controls to the MDM device. The temporary policy controls overwrite existing policy controls and remove non-whitelisted application tiles from the MDM device home screen. Non-whitelisted application tiles can be selected by the MDM administrator and can include texting functions, social media applications, and internet browsers. The preselected state can include the presence or absence of motion, a minimum speed, location, date and time, proximity to a signal source, internet connectivity, Bluetooth connectivity, and combinations of the foregoing.

  • Patent number: 10547736
Abstract: A system and method for determining a presence of a mobile device located in a predetermined detection zone within a vehicle may include a plurality of transmitters located within the vehicle, in which each of the plurality of transmitters is configured to transmit an acoustic signal into an acoustic environment within the vehicle, and in which each of the acoustic signals comprises at least one ultrasonic pulse, a mobile device configured to periodically record sounds in the acoustic environment, and a processor configured to determine that a periodically recorded sound by the mobile device comprises each of the acoustic signals transmitted by the plurality of transmitters, determine a location of the mobile device within the vehicle based on the acoustic signals recorded by the mobile device, and determine that the location of the mobile device matches the predetermined detection zone.

  • Patent number: 9280145
Abstract: In various embodiments, apparatus, systems, and methods for detecting an intoxicated driver of a vehicle and preventing operation of the vehicle are presented. In one embodiment, an apparatus comprises an air intake configured to intake an air sample from a predetermined detection zone. The predetermined detection zone is defined as a three-dimensional zone substantially in or in proximity of an area of a vehicle occupied by a driver. An operator detection sensor detects the presence of the driver within the predetermined detection zone. The operator detection sensor automatically operates the air intake when the operator is detected. A detector module comprises a sensor configured to produce an electrical signal representative of a blood alcohol content of the driver. A control module is electrically coupled to the detector module to control at least one operation of the vehicle in response to the signal received by the control module from the sensor.
