Patents Assigned to DSC Telecom L.P.
  • Patent number: 5798485
Abstract: A cabinet (10) for housing electronic equipment includes a first vertical frame member (12) and a second vertical frame member (14) connected to an upper horizontal frame member (16), a lower horizontal frame member (18), and an intermediate horizontal frame member (20). The upper horizontal frame member (16) includes input/output ports (26) for receiving external cables for passing telecommunications signals. The upper horizontal frame member (16) also includes a recess to slidably receive an air filter assembly. The lower horizontal frame member (18) has reinforced joints for seismic protection. The intermediate horizontal frame member (20) includes integrated ports (40) for internal cable routing and a similar recess (42) for slidably receiving an air filter assembly. A cable tube (24) is connected to the first vertical frame member (12) and the second vertical frame member (14).

  • Patent number: 5796806
Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing spoken identification of a telephone caller on all phones of a service subscriber's telephone line. The caller's identification is spoken over a regular telephone receiver so no visual display hardware is needed. Software allows the call to be handled by the subscriber in multiple ways. Voice or keypad commands allow the subscriber to take the call, play the caller a message declining the call, route the call to a voice mail system (if available), or refer the call to some other system. Software control of the apparatus allows the call routings to be optional, flexibly configured, and extended to other capabilities in the future. Software control also allows the telephone company's billing name database to be expanded beyond what is known to the local telephone company of the subscriber. Alternatively, a predefined list of expected caller's numbers can be defined by the caller and their names recorded.

  • Patent number: 5769669
Abstract: An apparatus and method for keying an electrical assembly with a wiring backplane include an electrical assembly (1), a removable guide member (3), and a wiring backplane (8). The removable guide member (3) has a projection (7) perpendicular to the body (4) of the removable guide member (3) which is secured to the electrical assembly (1) by a flexible latching element (11). The electrical assembly (1) having a removable guide member (3) is received by a wiring backplane (8) adapted to receive the removable guide member (3).

  • Patent number: 5748569
Abstract: In a telecommunication system having multiple timing subsystems receiving and distributing redundant timing signals, there is provided a circuitry (8, 100) for aligning first and second redundant timing signals (10, 12, 110, 112) and switching therebetween. The circuitry includes first and second phase-locked loops (18, 20, 118, 120) for receiving first and second redundant timing signals (10, 12, 110, 112), respectively, and multiplying the frequency of first and second redundant timing signals (10, 12, 110, 112) by a factor of N. The circuitry further includes a selecting and switching circuitry (34, 134) for receiving the multiplied first and second redundant timing signals (22, 23, 122, 124) and designating one as ACTIVE and the other as INACTIVE, and providing the ACTIVE timing signal as an output timing reference signal (54, 154).

  • Patent number: 5673186
Abstract: A current-fed DC-to-DC converter (10) includes an input choke (20) which reduces current fluctuation in the converter (10). A power transformer (26), which is coupled to the input choke (20), transforms electrical energy at one voltage magnitude into electrical energy at another voltage magnitude. A first output rectifier (32) is coupled to the input choke (20). A second output rectifier (34, 36) is coupled to the power transformer (26). A first isolation diode (38) and a second isolation diode (40, 42) are coupled to the anodes of the first output rectifier (32) and the second output rectifier (34, 36), respectively. A transient voltage suppression element (12) is coupled to the first isolation diode (38) and the second isolation diode (40, 42).
