    Abstract: Virus sub-unit vaccines which are substantially free from pyrogens, virion nucleic acids and unwanted antigenic material are prepared by introducing inactivated whole virus into a continuous loading zonal ultracentrifuge provided with a density gradient containing a haemolytic surfactant and binding the split sub-units isopycnically. All ether-sensitive viruses can be used, especially influenza virus.
