    Abstract: A retractable needle is disclosed for use with a hypodermic syringe, in order to eliminate the possibility that a user could inadvertently contact a contaminated needle. The present needle comprises a hypodermic needle and needle support which can engage with the sealing portion of a commercially available hypodermic syringe plunger, allowing the needle to be withdrawn into the barrel of the syringe after use.
