  • Patent number: 4896599
Abstract: A second color print head attachment for an offset duplicator including a plate cylinder carrier 20 and an inker carrier 70 arranged to be pivotally secured to a side frame 11 of an offset duplicator press 10. A first pair of register pins 100 and 102 mounted on the inker carrier 70 are received in openings 21 and 23 formed in the plate cylinder carrier 20 for detachably securing inker form rollers 75, 76, and 77 in engagement with the printing plate 35. A pair of rollers 64 and 66 on the plate cylinder carrier 20 extend into guide slots 54 and 56 in a mounting bracket 50 secured to the duplicator press frame 12. The lock-up mounting bracket 50 and the hinge mounting bracket 40 are pivotally secured to the duplicator press frames for rotation by an eccentric actuator 110, 115 for moving the printing plate 35 into engagement with the blanket cylinder 16 in the duplicator press 10.

  • Patent number: 4478400
Abstract: An envelope feeder for a duplicating press having a suction feeder wherein the envelope feeder includes a conveyer for transferring envelopes one at a time from a magazine storing a supply stack to a feed stack from which the suction feeder of the duplicating press removes the envelopes one at a time from the top of the stack. The conveyer coacts with the magazine and other means for taking the envelopes from the bottom of the supply stack one at a time and feeding them to the bottom of the feed stack at the press. A detector at the feed stack shuts down the conveyer when the feed stack reaches a predetermined height, and thereafter starts the conveyer when the stack diminishes to a given level.

  • Patent number: 4429631
Abstract: An auxiliary inking roller kit for a duplicating press for improving the inking of the master cylinder which includes a pair of mounting plates between which are mounted an auxiliary ink form roller and an oscillating ink transfer roller and means for selectively positioning the auxiliary ink form roller into and out of engagement with the master cylinder, wherein the oscillating ink transfer roller is disposed between the regular lower form roller and the auxiliary form roller.

  • Patent number: 4416722
Abstract: A sheet stack is bound by applying adhesive with a drum from which adhesive is wiped just before the stack arrives to prevent excess adhesive on its front edge. Other features include a sheet-aligning jog table that moves out of position before the stack reaches the drum, the use of separators between a plurality of stacks that travel past the drum simultaneously, and a bound stack of sheets with a cover having a small, folded-over portion adjacent to the stack.

  • Patent number: 4395036
Abstract: Apparatus for holding a stack of sheets for entry into a sheet feeder, wherein there is provided a tray for vertically supporting the stack, left and right guide elements moveable toward and away from the lateral edges of the stack for centering the stack in the tray, and a flexible band formed in a loop, the band being attached to the guide elements at two locations, such that the guide elements move inward and outward laterally in unison, and the band being supported beneath the tray, and wherein the band is bent (e.g., around a convex surface) during inward movement of the guide elements so that when the movement stops the band tends to move the guide elements outwardly as it assumes an equilibrium position, thereby preventing overtightening of the guide elements against the stack.

  • Patent number: 4394009
Abstract: Apparatus for feeding single sheets of paper from a stack of the sheets, including fixed upper and lower guide surfaces between which the sheets travel during feeding, a single, centrally-located feed roll, a registration roll downstream of the feed roll, the registration roll being activated at the end of a predetermined delay period beginning when the feed roll is activated, the delay period being sufficient to assure that a single sheet is moved into engagement with the registration roll before the end of the period, the separation between the upper and lower guide surfaces being greater at a location intermediate the separation and registration rolls than at the rolls to define a buckle-restraint region intermediate the rolls wherein buckling of the sheet occurs after engagement with the registration roll and before the end of the delay period, and the moving feed surface of the feed roll being adapted to slip with respect to the sheet after the sheet has buckled against the surface of the region.

  • Patent number: 3998159
Abstract: A machine for copying of patterns for use in the garment industry incorporating the spirit duplicating process. The machine incorporates a pair of nip rollers between which is engaged a master pattern paper and copy paper. The copy paper is fed from a supply roll over a spirit applicator and is wrapped around the bottom nip roller, wet side out, contacts the master pattern paper at the nip, and then travels to a rewind roll. The master pattern paper travels from a supply spindle to the nip and then to a take-up spindle. The nip rollers are separated by a cam action. Control of the operations of the machine is effected by a single control arm which, in its rear position, separates the nip rollers and engages drive means to rewind the master pattern. In the forward position, the control arm brings the nip rollers together, engages drive means for the take-up spindles for the master pattern paper and the copy paper and activates the drive for the nip rollers and the spirit wetting roller.
