    Abstract: The modular pin spotting system described herein allows a common welding source to be utilized with both hand held pinspotters and fixed pinspotters. This allows the operator to choose the mode of operation for the welding source based on operator needs. In some aspects, the pin spotting system includes a mobile welding source, a ground handpiece, a handheld pinspotter apparatus, and a fixed pinspotter apparatus. The welding source is removably attachable to either of the hand held pinspotter apparatus and fixed pinspotter apparatus and configured to supply welding energy to the attached pinspotter apparatus. Each of the hand held and fixed pinspotter apparatus are configured to energize the mobile welding source to supply welding energy to a weld pin positioned against a sheet metal surface to affix the weld pin to the sheet metal surface through welding.

The vane cutting apparatus disclosed herein utilizes a pneumatically powered cutting mechanism that allows for a smaller apparatus footprint with no loss of cutting force and results in the single stepped blade rolling the inside edges of the hollow turning vane during cutting. The rolled inside edges provide a more secure and smoother fit when the hollow turning vane is fastened to the mating vane rail for use in an HVAC duct.

The combination utilizing, e.g., a commercially available cable clamp rigidly but removably connected to the clamp in a position where openings in the bracket surfaces mate with the cable channels through the clamp and a slot through the bracket mates with a clamp release projection on the clamp. The cable clamp includes a clamp clutch adjacent each cable channel for holding a support cable. The combination resulting in a rigid connection between the clamp and the item (e.g., duct) and a non-slip connection between the supporting cables and the item. The bracket can be formed from a flat plate having preformed openings and connecting elements by bending the plate into the desired form for holding the clamp and being securable to the, e.g., duct.

    Abstract: A cable clamp of the spring biased wedge type incorporates a housing having an elongate slot formed therethrough, the slot being disposed in parallel relation to the direction of movement of the wedge in the housing. A retractor pin extends through the slot and is coupled to the wedge. The wedge may be shifted into cable releasing position by the application of compressive forces exerted between the portions of the pin projecting through the slot and an abutment portion or end of the housing. A simplified method of assembly includes interposing a spring between the wedge and the portion of the housing, shifting the wedge such that a blind bore in the wedge is aligned with the slot, and thereafter connecting a pin to the wedge as by press fitting, portions of the pin projecting outwardly through the slot to thereby capture the wedge and spring.

    Abstract: A bow resistant connector for coupling frame components at right angles to each other includes a pair of legs extending from an apex, the legs being disposed at right angles to each other. The lateral side edges of the legs include fingers the outer surfaces of the fingers being formed with barbs for locking the leg to a respective frame member. The fingers are separated from the main body of the legs by slots. A boss is deflected from the body of the leg outwardly to provide a reinforcing rib, the boss being located between and in general alignment with the fingers. A secondary boss or rib member is formed adjacent the lead edge of the leg the secondary boss extending to the opposite side of the leg from the main rib or boss. The secondary boss engages a surface of the frame to provide additional stability to the connection between the connector leg and the frame component.

A clamp connection interposed between the link and drive portion of the louvers permits relative adjustment of the link relative to the louver. Movement of the base plate parallel to the plane defined by the axes of the louvers results in tilting of the louvers in a selected direction, dependent upon which of the series of drive slots is occupied by a pin of a respective link.

    Abstract: A banding device is formed of two metallic components, namely, a clamp component and a strap component. The clamp and strap components are slidably assemblable into interlocked engagement. The strap includes regularly longitudinally spaced locking components, the locking components including teeth deflected from the plane of the strap and locking shoulders in the plane of the strap. The strap is applied by advancing the free end through a passage formed in the clamp, a pawl of the clamp being resiliently biased into the passage. The teeth and pawl co-act to permit movement of the strap through the clamp in a first direction, the pawl biasing the stop shoulders into the path of a barb extending into the passage to block reverse movement of the strap. The pawl is manually accessible, enabling the spacing between the pawl and barb to be increased to thereby release the strap permitting retraction of the strap from the clamp.
