  • Patent number: 9719551
Abstract: An injection-molded plastic roofing membrane plate includes a body and multiple cleats. The cleats extend from a bottom surface of the body. Each of the cleats has a rounded terminal end with a rounded terminal surface. The rounded terminal surfaces make surface-to-surface abutment with an underlying membrane in installation. The rounded terminal surfaces reduce wear on the underlying membrane that may otherwise occur.

  • Patent number: 9645062
Abstract: A roofing pull-test frame assembly includes a base, a frame plate, and legs. The base is placed on a roof during use of the roofing pull-test frame assembly. The base has one or more walls with a bracing surface. The legs extend between the base and the frame plate and support the frame plate above the base when the roofing pull-test frame assembly is assembled together. In use, loads experienced during a pull-testing event are transmitted between the legs and base via surface-to-surface abutment with the bracing surface.

  • Patent number: 8915284
Abstract: A method of applying a strip to a surface is disclosed. The strip is laid out spaced apart from a path guide. The path guide is referenced with least two longitudinally spaced apart reference guides to guide an applicator transversely spaced from the reference guides over the strip. The strip is lifted upstream of the applicator with a strip guide longitudinally spaced from the applicator to space the strip from the surface. Heat is applied to at least one of the strip or the surface in a location longitudinally between the applicator and the strip guide. The applicator is moved along the strip to apply pressure to the strip against the surface to bond the strip to the surface. A related apparatus for applying a strip to a surface is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7979968
Abstract: A membrane puller for pulling a sheet of membrane material over an underlying surface has a frame with a lever arm pivotally attached to the frame for pivotal movement between a first position and a second position. A foot actuatable clamp assembly is carried by the frame for relative movement with the frame in response to pivotal movement of the lever arm. A cable has one end adapted for operable attachment to the lever assembly and another end adapted for operable attachment to the clamp assembly. The clamp assembly moves conjointly with the body via the cable and in response to pivotal movement of the lever arm toward its second position to pull the membrane material toward the front of the membrane puller.

  • Publication number: 20070193168
Abstract: A single ply flexible membrane roofing system secured to a roof deck has a first membrane secured to the roof deck by fasteners. The membrane system includes a second membrane with an edge portion overlapping the first membrane edge which can be “factory” weld-bonded to the first membrane along the edge of the second membrane to provide waterproofing such that the first membrane edge projects forwardly from the bond to define a fastening projection extending forwardly from the weld bond for the laterally spaced fasteners. An adhesive coating over the fastening projection and fasteners extends essentially from the weld bond forwardly to provide a continuous adhesive coating over the first membrane projection and the fasteners to provide a substantially monolithic water-sealed seaming bond of enhanced strength with enhanced resistance to uplift forces. The invention is concerned also with the labor reduced method of constructing the system.

  • Patent number: 5829214
Abstract: A roof system comprising a roof substrate with an exposed vertical, rigid drain pipe is covered by a flexible single ply synthetic, plastic cover, with a sandwiched reinforcement fabric, having an opening in alignment with the drain pipes. A patch-shaped piece of the cover material has a drain pipe accommodating opening surrounded by an edge portion perimetrally pressure-heat welded to the cover, the piece having a generally rigid, non-bindable, plastomeric seal ring disc, formed generally of recycled such cover material wherein the reinforcement fabric is disassociated and present in the plastic in the form of randomly dispersed fibres. The disc is only centrally pressure heat-welded to the underside of the piece and has an opening therethrough of substantially the shape and size of the drain pipe. It is the ring disc which is secured to the substrate.

  • Patent number: 5145617
Abstract: A method of processing scrap, single-ply synthetic plastic roof-membrane sheet material comprising a fabric, having warp and weft strands composed of bundles of synthetic plastic fibers, encased in a thermoplastic synthetic plastic envelope. Comminuted pieces of the scrap are stuffed into a heat-applying, continuous mixer-extruder having screw mechanism within an elongate barrel chamber and the compressed material then is heated to plasticizing temperature and subjected to repetitive shear forces as it moves along the barrel chamber to a die discharge. The warp strands are separated from the weft strands via said shear force application and disembodied via said shear forces to provide discrete fibers in the mix of material. Finally, the fibers are randomly dispersed in the mix material and extruded.
