  • Patent number: 5282529
Abstract: An improved chain conveyor includes drive sprockets for the chain, and second sprockets for guiding the pallets between the upper and lower runs. The second sprockets rotate at a different rate of speed than the drive sprockets to adjust for misalignment between the pallet and the second sprocket as the pallet approaches the turns. The pallet includes an alignment groove which connects onto a link on the chain to properly position the pallet relative to the chain, and a plurality of teeth which are then engaged by the second sprocket. The second sprocket and the alignment groove thus provide plural positive engagement points between the pallet and the conveyor as the pallet moves between the upper and lower runs. This is an improvement over prior art systems which relied on frictional contact for such turning. In a further feature of the present invention, the chain and pallet are dimensioned such that the pallet is unlikely to jam as it is being turned.

  • Patent number: 5193662
Abstract: An improvement in lift and carry conveyor systems includes the use of fixed guide rails which guide lower portions of a part as the part moves between sequential conveyor sections. The guide rails ensure that the part continues to be properly guided as it moves between the sequential stations, or between a workstation and a conveyor section. Further, the lift members are formed of aluminum extrusions and have plastic inserts.

  • Patent number: 4951804
Abstract: A conveyor for turning conveyed parts is disclosed that operates on a lift and carry type principle. A first straight lift and carry section delivers parts to a first point. A corner or turn lift and carry section lifts these parts and turns them through a desired angle to connect the part into a second straight lift and carry section. A transmission is disclosed for interconnecting the second lift and carry section to drive the corner lift and carry section. This transmission ensures proper timing between the two. The improved lift and carry conveyor will ensure that parts are turned through an angle while remaining separated by an adequate distance.
