Abstract: A crib convertible to a bed, the crib having a length greater than a width of the bed, is provided. The crib includes a crib mattress support board, two longitudinal and two transverse side panels removably attachable one to another in a crib configuration. Each of the crib mattress support board and longitudinal side panels includes a main member having a length less than the length of the crib and at least one extension member removable attached thereto. Upon detachment of the respective at least one extension therefrom, the main member of the crib mattress support board is convertible to a headboard of the bed, while the main member of each longitudinal side panel is convertible to bed mattress support of the bed. A kit for forming one of a crib and a bed, and a method of converting a crib to a bed are also provided.

Abstract: A chair adjustment mechanism for adjusting a position of a chair component. The mechanism comprises a first adjustment shaft, a second support shaft, as well as a set of friction plates, each friction plate comprising an elongated slot and the friction plates being fixedly mounted on the second support shaft while being slideably mounted on the first adjustment shaft. A guiding structure directs movement of the second support shaft along a direction of travel of the chair component. An adjustment handle is provided to reversibly compress the friction plates together in a locked position for fixing position of the component of the chair through braking displacement of the second support shaft along the guiding structure. The plurality of friction plates provides greater braking pressure for locking the mechanism.

Abstract: A locking chair adjustment mechanism for adjusting a position of a chair component. The mechanism comprises a central shaft, a spiral jaw clutch comprising two interconnecting spiral jaw interfaces and a slotted element wherein the slot is sized to slideably receive the central shaft for displacement of the slotted element when the mechanism is in an unlocked position. A locking pad locks the mechanism against the slotted element. A rotatable adjustment handle allows the mechanism to toggle from a locked position, to an unlocked position, by displacement of the spring mechanism caused by the rotation of the spiral jaw interface fixedly mounted on the adjustment handle, therefore releasing pressure on the locking pad. A spring mechanism is activated when the claimed mechanism goes from a locked position to an unlocked position, pulling the claimed mechanism back to a locked position. The claimed mechanism provides a low cost solution offering better locking capabilities than traditional braking mechanisms.
