Abstract: A system and method to execute, via an API overlay and through a graphical user interface accessible to a user, an end result media stream that is live shoppable media enabling a transaction relating to an item associated with the video content, all without interrupting the video content stream. An interactive overlay is generated, that is wholly independent of the video content file and playable independently of the video content file, but nevertheless associated with the video content file, wherein the overlay includes an interactive portion configured to receive a user interaction associated with some element of the video content file. A user interaction corresponding to the desired interaction between the user of the system and the element is received via the interactive portion of the overlay. In response to the user interaction, a transaction associated with the element is processed.
