The tool includes segments that can be separated for shipping or storage and assembled into a tool for removing and inserting a diffuser cartridge. The segments of the tool interlock using a complementary tongue and groove structures. The bottom element that engages the diffuser includes a tongue that engages a middle element having a groove. The middle element also has a tongue that engages a top element having a groove.
