Abstract: An interactive system combines an automated voice mechanism with a visual feedback mechanism. A first terminal device and a telecommunications server mutually transmit messages through a public switched telephone network. The first terminal device can send an input message to the telecommunications server and receive a voice feedback message from the telecommunications server. The telecommunications server can generate a processing message based on the input message and transmit the processing message to an information management server which based on the processing message's content, through an internet sends a forward message to an information distribution server which based on the forward message's content, sends a control message to a second terminal device. The second terminal device transmits a request message to a picture content management server according to the forward message to obtain a picture feedback message returned by the picture content management server.

The method is performed by the cloud server and includes the steps of activating a server-end program to connect with the electronic device via the Internet; adjusting an entry of the server-end setting data according to an edit command received from a client; sending the adjusted server-end setting data to the electronic device via the Internet so that the electronic device can reset the corresponding entry of the client-end setting data and display the corresponding utility program installed therein according to the adjusted server-end setting data.

Abstract: A computer-implemented system is provided, including a network consisting of the Internet, PSTN, and CATV network. The network is connected to multiple users' client systems, and also to multiple service provider systems. Each user has a user profile stored in a User Preference Database, while each service provider has service parameters defining the type of its service stored in a Service Database, both of which are connected to the network. The system further includes a Gatekeeper Server, which establishes voice communication among the client systems and the service provider systems. In operation, upon receiving a user's request for service, the Gatekeeper Server identifies one or more service providers whose service parameters match the user's request for service and the user's profile. Upon the user's selection of one such service provider, the Gatekeeper server automatically selects and establishes a preferred mode of voice connection between the user and the selected service provider.

Abstract: A method for automatically converting an outline font character into a glyph-based font character using a set of predefined basic glyphs stored in a glyph database is provided. Each basic glyph is predefined as a program for rendering the basic glyph for output. Additionally, each basic glyph is associated with a glyph signature consisting of feature points, and script sentences that obtain key points and width values based on the feature points. According to the automatic font conversion method, first, an outline font character to be redefined is captured. Then, one glyph is selected from the captured character. Thereafter, feature points are identified along the outline of the selected glyph and stored in a glyph signature. Next, the glyph database is searched and a basic glyph that topographically matches the selected glyph is retrieved.

Abstract: A system, method and a computer readable medium for controlling character data access between a personal computer and server. This system allows a user to display large amounts of data required to accurately represent, store, manipulate and create characters of an Asian font. The system includes one or more personal computers and a server coupled to a public data network. The one or more personal computers and the server interact to provide the users of the one or more personal computers with access to Asian characters stored on both the personal computer and the server.

Abstract: The invention provides a personal Web guide system, which allows a user of a client system, in particular a computer-novice user, to enjoy viewing a sequence of Web pages automatically as predefined in a schedule program. Specifically, the system includes schedule program memory including a schedule program in which a plurality of Internet resource addresses are registered in predetermined sequential order. The personal Web guide system further includes a client system (TV settop box system, mobile phone, PC, etc.) including a display. The client system is configured to download plural sets of Internet resource data whose addresses are registered in the schedule program from the Internet, and to display the plural sets of downloaded data in the predetermined sequential order on the display.

Abstract: A method for allowing a layman user to visually calibrate a user display is provided. First, a standard display model is predefined with (i) a standard display colorimetric transformation matrix, (ii) a standard display luminance response function, and (iii) three standard display human perception response (HPR) curves in dim, average, and bright environments, respectively. Second, a user display model is created, also including (i) a user display colorimetric transformation matrix, which is not fully defined, (ii) a user display luminance response function, which is also not fully defined, and (iii) a user display human perception response (HPR) curve in dim, average, or bright surrounding environment, as specified by the user. Third, the user display luminance response function is estimated. Fourth, the user display colorimetric transformation matrix is estimated. Finally, based on the above estimation, a lookup-table (LUT) is created for converting standard display signals to user display signals.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer-readable medium for generating a glyph-based outline font are provided, which allow for font communication between different devices having various (high and low) resolutions. A method selects a character for display on the output device. The character consists of one or more glyphs, and each glyph forming the character is predefined by key points, width values, feature points that have predefined spatial relationship to the key points and width values, and curve ratios prestored in a curve level table. Next, the method determines the resolution of an output device. Then, for each glyph forming the character, the method retrieves curve ratios from the prestored curve level table according to the determined resolution of the output device. Curve ratios are used to create curve segments, which form the outline of the selected glyph.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing a stroked-based font defined by a stroke representation displayable in high-resolution and low-resolution space. The stroke representation includes defining a basic stroke with key points and width values as its primary parameters and feature points and curve features as the secondary parameters. Hinting information for certain key points provide information for displaying quality strokes in low resolution space. A CAD tool allows a font designer to easily select the parameters for the design of basic strokes.

Abstract: A method, computer system and computer-readable medium for generating an outline font of Asian language characters. The Asian language characters are defined by basic strokes. The basic strokes are identified by a plurality of key points and at least one width value. The computer system includes memory and a processor coupled to at least one output device. The processor retrieves a set of basic stroke defined characters and identifies a set of similar glyphs in the retrieved set of characters. Each glyph includes a set of basic strokes. The processor selects topographically representative glyphs from each identified set of similar glyphs, determines the intersecting points of the plurality of overlapping basic strokes for each selected glyph, generates outline data for each selected glyph according to the determined intersecting points and stores the generated outline data in memory. The processor also renders a character selected for display on an output device according to the stored generated outline data.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing a stroked-based font defined by a stroke representation displayable on high or low-resolution output device. The stroke representation includes defining a basic stroke with key points and width values as its primary parameters and feature points and curve ratios stored in a predefined curve level tree type data structure as its secondary parameters. Curve ratios are retrieved from the curve level table according to resolution level of the output device. Also, hinting information for certain key points provides for a better displayed stroke in low resolution space. Hinting information is activated according to predefined data associated with the curve level table. A CAD tool allows a font designer to easily select the parameters for the design of basic strokes and stroke shapes. The CAD tool presents a real-time display of sample characters at various bitmap sizes during font creation.

Abstract: A method of encoding a document with text characters includes the steps of providing a font memory with a first memory region for storing a plurality of basic unit information and a second memory region for storing a plurality of character information, and selecting a text character of the document. If the character information corresponding to the selected text character is found in the font memory, a corresponding user-defined code is assigned to the selected text character, and the corresponding user-defined code is stored in a character information region of a font file. The character information corresponding to the selected text character is stored in the character information region of the font file, and the basic unit information of the constituting basic units that constitute the selected text character is stored in a basic unit information region of the font file.
