A reinforcing member is completely embedded in the synthetic resin material, with the reinforcing member forming a closed frame corresponding to a contour of the vehicle door. An impact protection strut is provided which extends between at least one of the hinge support and door lock support and transmits forces acting laterally on the vehicle door to the vehicle body.
