Abstract: A polymer having aromatic or heterocyclic rings as the only structural elements said aromatic or heterocyclic rings containing at least two nitro groups is disclosed as well as a method of preparing the same. The polymers are useful as binding agents for thermo stable propellants and can be easily formed into films. They remain thermally stable up to temperatures of at least 200.degree. C.
Abstract: An aqueous solution of a mixture of silicon-organic compounds comprising:A. A silane of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein a is 1 or 2, b is 0, 1 or 2, and a +b is equal to or less than 3, p is 0 or 1, and R represents an alkylene moiety of 1 to 8 carbon atoms or arylene moiety, R' represents an alkyl moiety, X represents a hydrolizable moiety and Y represents a functional group or the CH.sub.3 or the CH.sub.2 .dbd.CH moiety, andB. A copolymer having the recurrent unit of the general formula: ##STR2## wherein R" represents OH and/or [O].sup.- [NH.sub.4 ].sup.+ and/or [0].sup.- [Me].sup.+ where Me is an alkali or alkaline earth metal and Z can represent a moiety of the formula: ##STR3## wherein R'" represents an alkyl moiety. Also disclosed are new copolymers having the recurrent unit ##STR4## wherein at least one of the Z moieties is a moiety having the formula ##STR5## wherein R'" represents an alkyl moiety.

Abstract: A process for the production of foam materials, particularly polyolefin foam materials, from crosslinked polyolefin scraps involves comminuting and compressing crosslinked polyolefin foam scraps at a temperature lying below the decomposition temperature of a crosslinked agent contained therein, plasticating the resulting comminuted product also at a temperature lying below the temperature of the crosslinked agent, forming a shaped article from the plasticated material and thereafter crosslinking and expanding the shaped article by heating above the decomposition temperature of the crosslinking agent and of a blowing agent contained within said material. The initial foam scraps are obtained during the formation of a crosslinked polyolefin foam containing material.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of a terephthalic, isophthalic or phthalic dialdehyde is described by dehydrogenation of the corresponding xylylene glycol in the vapor phase at 250.degree. to 500.degree. Abstract: A process for preparing a gamma amino propyl alkoxy silane of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is an alkyl moiety of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R' is methyl or phenyl, and y is 0, 1 or 2 which comprises contacting the corresponding gamma-chloropropyl alkoxy silane with ammonia under pressure at a temperature between 50.degree. and 90.degree. C. while stirring the reaction mixture.
Abstract: An improved process for the production of an aminoalkylsilane by reaction of a chloroalkylsilane with ammonia or alkylamine at an elevated temperature or pressure wherein the chloroalkylsilane is added in a less than stoichiometric ratio to the ammonia or alkylamine preheated in a pressure vessel at a temperature between 50.degree. and 200.degree. C. Thereafter the reaction is carried out in a known manner within the temperature range of 50.degree. to 200.degree. C. By this manipulative technique, a higher yield of aminoalkylsilane is obtained per unit of time and the aminoalkylsilane is obtained in a greater purity.

Abstract: An improved process for the preparation of alkylsilanes and/or alkylsilanes substituted at the alkyl group by an addition reaction in the presence of a platinum or palladium supported catalyst wherein the reaction mixture is heated to its boiling point, condensed and the condensate contacts the catalyst, the improvement residing in vaporizing the reaction mixture and maintaining the vapors in out of contact relationship with respect to the platinum or palladium supported catalyst and contacting the reaction mixture only after it has condensed with the platinum or palladium supported catalyst and recovering the condensed reaction product.
Abstract: An improvement in the preparation of orthosilicic acid tetraalkyl esters by reaction of metallic silicon with alcohol in the presence of alkali alcoholate is disclosed, the improvement residing in carrying out the reaction in the co-presence of an ether alcohol or alkanolamine as cocatalyst.
