Abstract: A manual impact driver for aiding the removal of a threaded fastening member from a structure, is disclosed having a longitudinal axis (L), the manual impact driver including a body having a first end and a second end and a sliding member configured to be coupled to the body at the second end. The impact driver is movable between a first configuration, upon impact at the first end of the body, a linear impact force is translated along the longitudinal axis (L) from the first end of the body to the sliding member and a second configuration, upon impact at the first end, the linear impact force produces a torque, about the longitudinal axis (L), at the sliding member. The impact driver is operable to switch between the configurations upon rotation, by a user, of the body with respect to the sliding member.
