An example system includes a database server configured to generate a tag responsive to receiving a request from a requesting device. The tag is encoded with a uniform resource locator. The database server is further configured to associate a tag type of a plurality of tag types with the tag. The tag type indicates an intended use of the tag. The system further includes a memory configured to store data corresponding to the tag. The data may include the uniform resource locator and the tag type.
