Abstract: Methods and compositions are provided which allow for a single microRNA (miRNA) to reduce the level of expression of at least two members of the same protein and/or gene family. Such methods and compositions employ miRNA expression constructs having a structure such that the most abundant form of miRNA produced from the construct is a 22-nucleotide miRNA. The 22-nucleotide miRNA produced from the miRNA expression construct thereby reduces the level of expression of not only the target sequence for the miRNA, but also reduces the level of expression of at least one additional sequence from the same protein and/or gene family as the target sequence.
Abstract: Heat resistant ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer compositions comprising a blend of ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, peroxide curable polyacrylate elastomer, and polyamide are described. When crosslinked with a peroxide curative, the ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer compositions exhibit enhanced resistance to heat aging compared to conventional ethylene vinyl acetate elastomer compositions.

Abstract: The present invention relates to fungal ?12 desaturases (responsible for conversion of oleic acid to linoleic acid (18:2, LA)) and ?15 fatty acid desaturases (responsible for conversion of LA to ?-linolenic acid (18:3, ALA)). Amino acid motifs diagnostic of ?12 desaturases and ?15 desaturases are also provided. Methods of altering enzyme specificity towards ?12 desaturation or towards ?15 desaturation and/or increasing production of specific ?-3 and ?-6 fatty acids by over-expression of the fungal desaturases are also described.
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for forming a printing form from a photosensitive element to form a relief pattern. The method and apparatus thermally develop the photosensitive element by heating a composition layer of the element to cause a portion of the layer to liquefy and providing a development medium to the element to remove the liquefied composition. A conformable layer is disposed between the photosensitive element and a base support, which improves the compressibility and the contact between the photosensitive element and the development medium. The method and apparatus improve the efficiency of the removal of liquefied portions from the photosensitive element and the uniformity of the relief pattern formed.
