Abstract: Methods of selecting haploid embryos are disclosed. Methods of producing haploid embryos and non-viable diploid embryos on a plant are provided. Methods for selecting haploid embryos produced from haploid inducer maize lines are provided. Methods for producing improved maize haploid inducer lines are disclosed. Maize haploid inducer lines comprising transgenes causing ablated or abnormal diploid embryos are disclosed.
Abstract: Olefins are polymerized by novel transition metal complexes of selected iminocarboxylate and iminoamido ligands, sometimes in the presence of cocatalysts such as alkylaluminum compounds or neutral Lewis acids. Olefins which may be (co)polymerized include ethylene, &agr;-olefins, and olefins containing polar groups such as olefinic esters for example acrylate esters. Also described are certain “Zwitterionic” transition metal complexes as polymerization catalysts for making polar copolymers. The resulting polymers are useful as thermoplastics and elastomers.

Abstract: Random, melt-processible copolyimides are disclosed herein. These copolyimides are semicrystalline and exhibit recoverable (semi)crystallinity from their melts. Associated processes, which entail either solution polymerization or melt polymerization, for producing and fabricating these copolyimides into useful articles having a predetermined shape are also disclosed.

Abstract: A hydroformylation process comprising the steps of: (a) reacting a conjugated C4 to C20 alkadiene with CO and H2 in the presence of a catalyst composition to form a product comprising at least one alkenal wherein said catalyst composition comprises a Group VIII metal or Group VIII metal compound and at least one phosphonite ligand having a structure:
wherein R1, R2 and R3 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 20 carbon atoms, aralkyl of 7 to 15 carbon atoms and aryl of 6 to 10 carbon atoms, and wherein X1 and X2 are independently selected from the group consisting of a direct bond and alkylidene of 1 to 20 carbon atoms; and then (a) recovering at least one alkenal. The process is particularly useful to produce pentenals from butadiene.
Abstract: Coating composition suitable for multilayer lacquering, containing, in addition to organic solvent, anti-sagging agents, optionally pigments, extenders and additives, a binder/crosslinkin agent system containing
A) from 20 to 80 wt. % of carboxyl-functional (meth)acrylic copolymers and/or carboxyl-functional polyesters having an acid number of from 20 to 300,
B) from 20 to 80 wt. % of epoxy-functional crosslinking agents, the percentages by weight of A) and B) adding up to 100 wt. %.
C) from 0 to 30 wt. % of polymer polyol C), based on the sum of the weights of A) and B),
E) from 0 to 20 wt. % of further crosslinking agents, based on the sum of the weights of A, B, and C),
F) from 0 to 10 wt. % of monoepoxides, based on the sum of the weights of A) and B), and
D) as anti-sagging agents, from 0.1 to 3 wt.

Abstract: Chain transfer agents that are chlorine-free and liquid under polymerization conditions, useful for fluoromonomer polymerization, have the following formula:
R1—O—R2.
They are superior to common chain transfer agents such as chloroform in being safer and environmentally benign. They are also superior to gaseous chain transfer agents such as ethane because they do not enter the fluoromonomer gas recycle streams and so do not complicate the analysis and purification of those streams.
