  • Patent number: 5717089
Abstract: Process for the preparation of .epsilon.-caprolactam starting from an aldehyde compound comprising at least one member from among 5-formylvaleric acid, ester or amide in which the aldehyde compound is allowed to react in the presence of ammonia and hydrogen and a subsequent cyclization of the reaction products thus formed (.epsilon.-caprolactam-precursors) to .epsilon.-caprolactam is performed in the presence of water, involved the combination of steps(a) contacting the 5-formylvaleric acid, ester or amide with ammonia and water under non-hydrogenation conditions,(b) contacting the resulting mixture of step (a) with hydrogen in the presence of ammonia under hydrogenation conditions, wherein the water content is greater than 10 wt. %,(c) heating the resulting mixture of step (b) at a temperature between 200.degree. and 350.degree. C. in order to convert the reaction products of step (b) to .epsilon.-caprolactam.

  • Patent number: 5277618
    Abstract: Connector (1, 11, 24, 26, 36, 40) for mounting on a substrate (2, 14, 23, 25, 35, 46) comprising one or more contact elements (13, 28, 29, 37, 44) accommodated in a housing (3, 12, 41), having a mounting side (19, 32, 39), which, in the mounted state of the connector (1, 11, 24, 26, 36, 40) is situated opposite a face of the substrate (2, 14, 23, 25, 35, 46). The fixing means of the connector (1, 11, 24, 26, 36, 40) consist of at least one element, projecting outside the housing (3, 12, 41) beyond the mounting side (19, 32, 39) and connected thereto, preferably a pin-type element (7, 47) for engaging in an opening (8, 48) of the substrate (2, 14, 23, 25, 35, 46). The at least one element (7, 47) is disposed so as to be displaced outwards from a wall (9; 15, 16; 38; 42, 43) of the housing (3, 12, 41), which wall (9; 15, 16; 38; 42, 43 ) adjoins the mounting side (19, 32, 39). The at least one fixing element (7, 47) can also be used for positioning and polarising purposes.

  • Patent number: 4866045
Abstract: A method for controlling insect larvae which inhabit the soil and feed on growing plants selected from rootworms, cutworms and wireworms which comprises applying to the soil habitat of the larvae an insecticidally-effective amount of 0,0-diethyl 0-(1,2,2,2-tetrachloroethyl)phosphorothioate.

  • Patent number: 4846891
Abstract: A process is disclosed for producing TiO.sub.2 pigment which is substantially improved for use in electrophoretic coating compositions. The process comprises adjusting an aqueous slurry of the pigment to a pH of about 6.5-7.5, maintaining such pH at a temperature and for a time which is sufficient to maintain substantial equilibrium, and washing the pigment. There also is disclosed TiO.sub.2 pigment which is produced by the foregoing process.

  • Patent number: 4840756
Abstract: Describes a process for controlling the polymerization and cross-linked density of electrophoretic gel products useful for separation of bioorganic molecules, which process does not use initiators common to processes of the art. Electron beam polymerized gels afford the desired advantages of being ultra thin and having a high electrophoretic resolution with programmable porosity profiles.
