  • Patent number: 7465564
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for the production of ?-linolenic acid (GLA) in oleaginous yeast. Thus, ?12 and ?6 desaturases able to catalyze the conversion of oleic acid to GLA have been introduced into the genome of Yarrowia, using zeta-directed integration. Transformed strains produced over 25% GLA in the total lipids, as opposed to wildtype Yarrowia that is unable to synthesize any GLA. Metabolic engineering and fermentation methods are provided to further enhance GLA productivity in oleaginous yeast.

  • Patent number: 7467047
Abstract: A method of discovering one or more patterns in two sequences of symbols S1 and S2 includes the formation, for each sequence, of a master offset table that groups for each symbol the position in the sequence occupied by each occurrence of that symbol. The difference in position between each occurrence of a symbol in one of the sequences and each occurrence of that same symbol in the other sequence is determined and a Pattern Map is formed. For each given value of a difference in position the Pattern Map lists the position in the first sequence of each symbol therein that appears in the second sequence at that difference in position. The collection of the symbols tabulated for each value of difference in position thereby defines a parent pattern in the first sequence that is repeated in the second sequence.

  • Patent number: 7459215
Abstract: A method of transporting precision equipment materials without absorption of thermal energy through the heat sensitive material or device such as flat panel displays. The transfer member has a carbon fiber reinforced composite material body with a layer of metal film on the top and bottom surfaces of the transfer member that provides a reflective surface. Flat panel displays, for example, release radiant thermal energy that is absorbed by the carbon fiber reinforced composite which is detrimental to the flat panel display. The reflective surface created by the metal film prevents the energy absorption by the carbon fiber reinforced composite. A glass fiber and epoxy layer on the metal film surface protects the metal film.
