Patents Assigned to E. Kertscher S.A.
  • Patent number: 5946798
Abstract: The method for manufacturing a core comprises the following steps: providing a strip made of an electrically conductive material, shaping the strip into a tube, the two edges of the strip being substantially in contact, and welding together the two edges of the tube-shaped strip, via laser welding, in order to form the core (1). The method is preferably performed continuously using a continuous strip of substantial length, in an advantageous manner, the shaped and welded tube undergoes calibration, then a surface treatment intended to promote the adhesion of the insulating material (6) so as to insulate the core with respect to the external conductor (8) of the coaxial cable.

  • Patent number: 5772041
Abstract: A method for recovering materials, in particular rejects or scraps of sheathed cables or wires, comprises introducing the parts into an enclosed space and placing them on a support provided with a drain, removing the oxygen from the enclosed space, raising the temperature inside the enclosed spaced until it reaches a melting temperature of one of the materials so that it drains through the drain, collecting the melted material in a recovery tank maintained at a temperature less than or equal to the melting temperature, then raising the temperature inside the enclosed space to cause the material remaining on the parts to dissipate in the form of vapour or gas, and recovering after cooling, the material drained into the recovery tank and the material or materials remaining on the support.

  • Patent number: 5744779
Abstract: A continuous tube (1) is prepared by extrusion of a plastic material. Flow regulators or "drips" (4) are welded at intervals onto its internal wall, said drips comprising a collecting chamber, which is provided on the face turned towards the tube (1), and connected, by a narrow passage, to the interior of the tube. The tube is moved continuously in front of a non contact detector, preferably a capacitive sensor (40) which detects the beginning or the end of the passing of a flow regulator before it. One thus controls, as a function of the detector signals, perforation in the wall of the tube, of a hole connecting the collecting chamber to the exterior, with the aid of a laser (42), preferably a Nd:YAG laser and a focusing optic (44).

  • Patent number: 5699660
Abstract: A stranding station (1) for SZ type stranding machines intended for the helical stranding of a plurality of individual wire strands (4a-4g). The stranding station (1) is characterized in that the accumulation element (50) is mounted so as to be free to rotate about and free to move axially along a support shaft (54) driven in rotation, in that the mechanism for driving the accumulation element in rotation includes an intermediate element (60) attached to the support shaft (54), arranged downstream of the accumulation element (50) in relation to the forward motion direction of the wire strands (4a-4g), and in that the intermediate element (60) has a driving surface (62), this accumulation element being driven in rotation by friction on the driving surface (62).

  • Patent number: 5690971
Abstract: A sealing device for assuring a sealed junction between two ducts (3 and 11, 13) for conveying plastic material at a high temperature and under high pressure in a machine for transforming plastic material, includes a first part (2) defining the first duct (3) and a second part (9) defining the second duct (11, 13), the second part being inserted in the first duct. The second part (9) comprises at one end an annular lip (16) protruding from its external cylindrical surface and connected to the one end by a thin annular zone (17). The lip (16) has a cylindrical external surface (18) which abuts the internal surface of the first part (2) under a mechanical bias due to the dimensional tolerances of the external surface (18) of the lip (16) and the internal surface of the first cylindrical part (2).

  • Patent number: 5676892
Abstract: An optical fiber cable, including optical fibers and a tube housing the fibers, is made by a process wherein optical fibers are fed from one or more pay-out device to the interior of an extrusion head which also receives a sheathing material in viscous form. The extrusion head extrudes the viscous material to form a sheath surrounding, but out of contact with the fibers. With the fibers still out of contact with the sheath, the fibers and sheath pass through a jig which calibrates the sheath to the final form of the tube, and cools the viscous material in a first stage of solidification. Thereafter, the cable comprising the tube and optical fibers is would up around a first draw-in device and heat treated. From the first draw-in device the cable passes to a second draw-in device with the tension of the cable between the two draw-in devices being regulated.
