Patent number: 7189429Abstract: A two part coating system comprises a first part comprising one or more aliphatic polyisocyanates, and a second part comprising one or more aromatic polyamines. In one group of embodiments, the second part comprises one or more aromatic polyamines, blended with one or more polyhydric alcohol compounds. In another group of embodiments, the polyhydric alcohol compounds are dispensed with and the required properties are achieved by selection of the type of polyisocyanate compound used and by close control of the proportions thereof. The coating system is suitable for application by spraying using equipment in which the two parts are first combined at the point of spraying, and may be applied to the internal surfaces of below-ground pipeline infrastructures, for example by means of a centrifugal spinning head assembly. In particular, the system may be used for the renovation of existing drinking water pipelines.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2004Date of Patent: March 13, 2007Assignee: E. Publication number: 20040258837Abstract: A method of renovating an existing pipeline comprises spray-coating the interior of the pipeline using a two part coating system of which the two parts are mixed at the time of application. One part of the system comprises a polyisocyanate whilst the second part comprises one or more oligomeric polyamines, optionally further blended with a secondary aliphatic polyamine, or the second part comprises one or more aromatic polyamines blended with one or more polyols. The mixture forms a coating on the interior surface of the pipeline and forms, at a high cure rate, a monolithic flexible lining which exhibits high strength and a high level of adhesion to the pipe wall.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 8, 2004Publication date: December 23, 2004Applicant: E. Patent number: 6730353Abstract: A two-part coating system comprises a first part comprising one or more aliphatic polyisocyanates, optionally blended with one or more “amine reactive” resins and/or non reactive resins, and a second part comprising one or more aromatic polyamines optionally blended with one or more oligomeric polyamines, such that the two parts, when mixed together and applied to the internal surfaces of pipelines, form a rapid setting impervious coating suitable for contact with drinking water.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2001Date of Patent: May 4, 2004Assignee: E. Patent number: 6074702Abstract: A two-part coating system comprises a first part comprising a blend of an aliphatic polyisocyanate with a non-reactive resin or a liquid epoxide resin and a second part comprising an aromatic polyamine, such that the two parts when mixed together and applied to a surface form a rapid-setting impervious coating. The coating system is suitable for application by spraying using equipment in which the two parts of the system are first combined at the point of spraying, at the spray head. In particular the system may be used to apply an impermeable lining to the internal surfaces of pipelines, for example by means of a centrifugal spinning head.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 1999Date of Patent: June 13, 2000Assignee: E.
