Forward facing surfaces of the front and rear strands have a first color coating thereon, and rearward facing surfaces of the front and rear strands are free of the first color coating. A method of making the color-coated expanded metal gutter cover is disclosed.

The gutter cover has a rear cover portion which contacts the gutter hanger.
