Abstract: Radically coupled PTFE polymer compounds useful, for example, as tribo materials, and a method for the production thereof. Radically coupled PTFE polymer compounds are provided which exhibit improved wear resistances with comparable gliding properties, and furthermore there is provided a simple and efficient method for the production of such compounds. Radically coupled PTFE polymer compounds are provided comprising radiation-chemically and/or plasma-chemically modified PTFE powders, on the particle surface of which olefinically unsaturated polymers are chemically radically coupled by a reactive conversion into a melt. There is also provided a method for producing radically coupled PTFE polymer compounds, in which PTFE powders are reactively converted with reactive perfluoroalkyl-(peroxy) radical centers after a radiation-chemical and/or plasma-chemical modification into a melt with the addition of olefinically unsaturated polymers.

Abstract: Disclosed is an easy-to-clean pedestal for use in the food industry, especially the meat processing industry, in order to support a piece of equipment. This pedestal is made of one single piece of material such as steel, that is flat and extends vertically with at least one folded side. Inasmuch as this pedestal is made of a single piece that is flat and free of interstices, remnants of meat or other contaminants that facilitate microbial growth, cannot be trapped. Moreover, its cleaning is much easier even with a water spray.
Abstract: A method of high spatial resolution imaging a structure in a sample comprises: marking the structure with molecules of a fluorescent dye; selecting a first wavelength for excitation light which excites the molecules of the fluorescent dye via a multi photon process for spontaneous emission of fluorescent light; focussing pulses of the excitation light into the sample to excite those molecules of the fluorescent dye present in a focal area of the focussed excitation light; selecting a second wavelength shorter than the first wavelength for de-excitation light which de-excites excited molecules of the fluorescent dye prior to their spontaneous emission; during a plurality of the pulses of the excitation light, continuously directing the de-excitation light onto the sample to de-excite excited molecules of the fluorescent dye, which are located outside an measurement area which is a fraction of the focal area; and recording the fluorescent light spontaneously emitted by the molecules of the fluorescent dye in th

Abstract: The safety razor includes a blade housing and a ceramic blade having a base disposed within the blade housing. The ceramic blade generally extends outwardly from the blade housing to expose a cutting edge suitable for shaving. The blade housing itself extends through at least a portion of the base to non-removably lock the ceramic blade therein. Accordingly, attempting to remove the ceramic blade from the blade housing results in destruction of the cutting edge.

Abstract: Different designs of hand-held devices for therapeutic skin treatment by application of heat are known. Inexpensive hand-held devices use heat radiation. In practice, however, there is no inexpensive hand-held device available that can be placed on the skin to be treated and that operates according to the principle of heat conduction and allows the skin to be treated within a defined temperature range without the use of a temperature sensor and control elements.
