Abstract: Apparatus and methods for forming a composite electrophoretic display comprised of multiple, stacked electrophoretic displays are described. The individual electrophoretic displays that form the composite display may be driven separately using different driving signals. The electrical connections for the individual displays may be configured to minimize the impact of the electrical connections on the overall aesthetic of the composite display.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a compound composition for a vehicle interior material using a natural fiber, which has use for enhancing physical properties, such as shock resistance, tensile strength, flexural strength, elongation, flexural modulus of elasticity, and heat deflection temperature, while realizing a reduction in weight of a vehicle. The compound composition is composed of a base resin obtained by mixing a high-fluidity polypropylene resin and a high-impact polypropylene resin, the base resin being a thermoplastic resin, a reinforcing filler that is a lightweight, eco-friendly, and low-density natural fiber, an impact modifier that is ethylene-propylene-octene rubber, an inorganic filler that functions as a nuclear agent, and a maleic-anhydride compatibilizer.
Abstract: Compositions and methods for controlling pests are provided. The methods involve transforming organisms with one or more nucleic acid sequence encoding insecticidal protein(s) and one or more silencing element(s). In particular, the nucleic acid sequences are useful for preparing plants and microorganisms that possess insecticidal activity. Thus, transformed bacteria, plants, plant cells, plant tissues and seeds are provided. Compositions are insecticidal nucleic acids and proteins of bacterial species. The sequences find use in the construction of expression vectors for subsequent transformation into organisms of interest including plants, as probes for the isolation of other homologous (or partially homologous) genes. The molecular and breeding stacks find use in controlling, inhibiting growth or killing Lepidopteran, Coleopteran, Dipteran, fungal, Hemipteran and nematode pest populations and for producing compositions with insecticidal activity.

Abstract: A system and method for delivering addressable or targeted advertising to subscribers during programming that the subscribers have recorded identifies the timing and characterization of programs to be recorded and the probable subscriber of those programs. Using the subscriber profiles of those subscribers, either already developed or generated on-the-fly based on program selection, and ad characterizations/profiles, the system generates a schedule of advertisements to be inserted into the avails (advertising opportunities) of the programming as it is recorded. The schedule generated can depend on correlations or matching between the ad profiles and the subscribers' profile, scheduling requirements (i.e., contracts and sales with advertisers) and timing. This system allows for targeted advertising to be delivered to subscribers during recorded programming and thus provides for additional opportunities for advertisers to reach subscribers in a highly addressable fashion.
Abstract: An aircraft galley cart bay door includes a door main structure having an inwardly facing peripheral inner edge with an inner surface, and a surface seal on the inner surface of the inwardly facing peripheral inner edge of the inner wall. A substantial majority of the main structure of the door is formed from a high strength molded carbon fiber composite material. The door main structure may optionally define a recess, and insulation material can be disposed in the recess defined by the main structure of the door.
Abstract: The disclosure provides a water-solvated glass/amorphous solid that is an ionic conductor-an electronic insulator, and a dielectric as well as electrochemical devices and processes that use this material, such as batteries, including rechargeable batteries, fuel cells, capacitors, electrolysis cells, and electronic devices. The electrochemical devices and products use a combination of ionic and electronic conduction as well as internal electric dipoles.

Abstract: In accordance with the invention, advertisement identifiers are stored in a queue in memory in the set top box or elsewhere corresponding to individual subscribers of a television service delivery network. The advertisements are retrieved and displayed in the order dictated by the queue as advertisement avails are detected in the particular channel information stream being watched by that subscriber. Accordingly, the subscriber sees the advertisements regardless of what channel or television program is being watched and sees them in the order dictated by the queue. The invention also is applicable to other information streams including Internet advertising, audio/radio advertising and advertising in electronic program guides.
