Abstract: A septic line cleaning assistance device that positions into alignment with a lower opening in a T-pipe to plug the lower opening in the T-pipe. The blocked lower opening enables a suction apparatus to suck waste from a pipe connected to a waste opening in the T-pipe through an upper opening in the T-pipe. A rod is configured to be inserted along the T-pipe and positioned into place along the T-pipe. The rod comprises a plug end holding the plug that is configured to frictionally engage the lower opening in the T-pipe to effectively seal the lower opening. A handle end having a grip enables the positioning of the plug over the lower opening, and pulling the plug into a mating position with the lower opening. An adjustable peripheral fastener is slidably positioned over the upper end of the T pipe to hold the device and plug in place.
Abstract: The disclosure provides a laminated polyolefin microporous membrane having propylene-?-olefin copolymer and methods of producing the same. The laminated polyolefin microporous membrane has a two-type three layer structure in which first polyolefin microporous layers are surface layers and a second polyolefin microporous layer is an intermediate layer which is different from the first polyolefin microporous layer.
Abstract: A method for subsurface irrigation having the steps of; providing one or more hydrophobic porous uncoated tubes having a hydro head (HH), locating the tubes with at least a portion of their length within the rhizosphere of plants to be irrigated, and passing an aqueous irrigation liquid into the tubes during the growth phase of the plants to be irrigated at an applied pressure at or below HH. The tubes may be located in the proximity of seeds which become the plants to be irrigated following their germination. In this embodiment, aqueous irrigation fluid is passed into the tubes during a germination phase of the seeds at an applied pressure that is at least 10% higher than the applied pressure during the growth phase of the plants.

Abstract: The silicon-based photomultiplier device comprises a substrate (1), a first layer (2) of a first conductivity type, a second layer (3) of a second conductivity type formed on the first layer, wherein the first layer (2) and the second layer (3) form a p-n junction, wherein the first layer (2) and the second layer (3) are disposed on or above the substrate (1). A material layer (15) between the substrate (1) and the first layer (2) fulfills the function of a light absorber, thereby efficiently suppressing crosstalk between adjacent cells of the device. Material layer (15) may further serve as an electrode for readout of electrical signals from the device.

Abstract: A ski boot with removable and interchangeable soles. In one embodiment, the ski boot has a hull with a shaped plate, a sole adapted to be removed from the hull with the sole having a front portion and a back portion that are separated from each other and constrained to the hull via fixing screws. The removable and interchangeable soles allows the ski boot to be configured for specific skiing disciplines and is compatible with ski bindings provided with a plurality of pins integral with the ski that are fitted into corresponding shaped recesses of the hull. The shaped recesses are positioned on the sides of the plate, which is fixedly constrained to the ski boot.
Abstract: Laminate structure suitable as electrical insulation comprising a mica-aramid layer of 35-55 wt % mica, 20-60 wt % binder, and 5 to 25 wt % aramid floc, the mica distributed uniformly in the mica-aramid layer; and an aramid layer comprising 35-75 wt % binder and 25-65 wt % aramid floc, the aramid layer being essentially free of mica; wherein the mica-aramid layer has a limiting oxygen index (LOI) of 37% or greater, and the aramid layer has a LOI of 30% or less and having a tensile strength and elongation greater than the mica-aramid layer; and the mica-aramid layer being homogeneously and continuously bound to the aramid layer; the laminate structure having a thickness of at least 0.10 mm, a LOI greater than 32%, and when exposed to a flame to determine LOI, the laminate burns as one piece.

Abstract: An aircraft armrest may incorporate a rail roller linkage. The roller linkage may include an armrest plate, a rail attached to an aircraft seat assembly, a top roller link, and a bottom roller link. The top roller link may have a threaded upper adjustment cylinder, a pivot joint, and a pair of grooved rollers diagonally disposed on either side of the pivot. The bottom roller link may have an unthreaded lower adjustment cylinder, a pivot joint, and a pair of grooved rollers diagonally disposed on either side of the pivot. The grooved rollers may mesh with the rail. The roller linkage may include a roller adjustment screw, having a threaded portion, and extending through both of the adjustment cylinders. A compression spring may bias the roller link around the rail and may be disposed between the top roller link and the bottom roller link and surrounding the roller adjustment screw.
Abstract: The invention relates to the field of management of an active lens and more particularly to a management system comprising an active lens (1), a first sensor (2) arranged to measure data relating to an incident light on the active lens, a control unit (4) designed for controlling the active lens according to data measured by the first sensor, wherein the management system further comprises a second sensor (3) arranged to measure data relating to a light transmitted from the incident light through the active lens, the control unit being further designed to adjust, according to said data measured by the second sensor, the control already performed according to said data measured by the first sensor. Thus the management system allows taking into account data relating to the light passing through the active lens as a feedback in order to finely control the active lens.

Abstract: A miniature time-of-flight mass spectrometer (TOF-MS) was developed for a NASA/ASTID program beginning 2008. The primary targeted application for this technology is the detection of non-volatile (refractory) and biological materials on landed planetary missions. Both atmospheric and airless bodies are potential candidate destinations for the purpose of characterizing mineralogy, and searching for evidence of existing or extant biological activity.
