Abstract: A telescoping aircraft door is disclosed having first and second panels that slide relative to one another to extend and retract as the door closes and opens, respectively. The first panel is hinged to the door frame in a traditional manner, and the second panel is fixed to the door frame by a linkage that limits the arc of the second panel. By selecting the location and length of the linkage, the relative movement of the two panels can be predictably controlled to reduce the depth of the door when closed and the length of the door when opened.

Abstract: An exemplary system and method for dynamic channel allocation in an LMR system includes using one or more preference indicators to dynamically determine a channel allocation priority to be used for channel allocation when channel allocation requests are received. The preference indicators may include a channel failure indicator (e.g. a channel health indicator based on repeater failures), a channel priority indicator, a radio frequency interference indicator, a high reflected power indicator, an excessive current drain indicator, a loss of backbone communications indicator, and a channel usage indicator. If more than one preference indicator is used, the channel priority ranking may be determined using any of a variety of weightings and prioritizations of the various preference indicators to dynamically generate the channel allocation priority.
Abstract: Method and machine for discharging at least one roll of tape from a winding spindle, according to which a cradle for partially housing the roll is fed by means of a motorized cart with wheels rolling on the floor below the roll and is then lifted to bring the roll into engagement with the cradle; during lifting of the cradle, the position of the same cradle with respect to the cart is adjusted in a horizontal plane by the action exerted by the same roll mounted on the winding spindle.

Abstract: A pixel array substrate includes a display area, signal lines, transmission lines, selection lines, and jumper wires. The selection lines intersect with the signal lines to form intersection regions. The selection lines have first contacts, second contacts, and third contacts. The first contacts are respectively located on the intersection regions. Each of the first contacts is between one of the second contacts and one of the third contacts. A first portion of the first contacts are passed by a line of the display area. The jumper wires respectively pass the first contacts, and two ends of each of the jumper wires are respectively located on one of the second contacts and one of the third contacts. A first portion of the jumper wires electrically connect the first portion of the first contacts and the second contacts, but electrically isolate the third contacts.
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a new compound E)-2-(5-((4-methoxy-2-(trifluoromethyl)quinolin-6-yl)methoxy)-2-((4-(trifluoromethyl) benzyl)oxy)-benzylidene) hexanoic acid (MTTB), and its derivatives. The compounds of the invention are useful as selective peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR?) antagonists and are indicated for the use in the treatment of immune related diseases such as systemic inflammation, sepsis and septic shock.

Abstract: An apparatus for generating a plurality of audio channels for a first speaker setup is characterized by an imaginary speaker determiner, an energy distribution calculator, a processor and a renderer. The imaginary speaker determiner is configured to determine a position of an imaginary speaker not contained in the first speaker setup to obtain a second speaker setup containing the imaginary speaker. The energy distribution calculator is configured to calculate an energy distribution from the imaginary speaker to the other speakers in the second speaker setup. The processor is configured to repeat the energy distribution to obtain a downmix information for a downmix from the second speaker setup to the first speaker setup. The renderer is configured to generate the plurality of audio channels using the downmix information.

Abstract: A decoder for generating an audio output signal having one or more audio output channels from a downmix signal having one or more downmix channels is provided. The downmix signal encodes one or more audio object signals. The decoder has a threshold determiner for determining a threshold value depending on a signal energy and/or a noise energy of at least one of the of or more audio object signals and/or depending on a signal energy and/or a noise energy of at least one of the one or more downmix channels. Moreover, the decoder has a processing unit for generating the one or more audio output channels from the one or more downmix channels depending on the threshold value, by computing eigenvalues of a downmix channel cross correlation matrix, wherein each eigenvalue except largest eigenvalue is compared to the threshold value, and omitted if they are smaller.

Abstract: An RFID reader includes a transmitter, a receiver, and an evaluator. The receiver receives signals from RFID tags within a given number of slots of a time frame with a given frame size and provides a number of successful slots and a number of collided slots. The evaluator sets a modified frame size based on an estimated number of RFID tags which is determined based on the frame size, the number of successful slots, and the number of collided slots. The invention also refers to a corresponding method.

Abstract: Various embodiments facilitate location-aware distributed competitions. In one embodiment, a system facilitates a distributed sporting event that includes multiple players traveling over non-uniform courses that are remote from one another. The system includes a manager that receives state information, such as location information, from client devices used by each of the players. The manager then transmits location information for each of the players to the client devices, which are each configured to present a graphical representation, such as a map annotated with the locations of each of the players. The system corrects for disparities between the non-uniform courses traveled by the players, for example by mapping a location on a course traveled by a first player to a location on a course traveled by a second player. Various mechanisms for establishing the mapping between non-uniform courses are also described.
