  • Publication number: 20110318981
Abstract: The invention relates to a part (1) including a structural portion made of an electrically insulating or low-conductive composite material (2), such that a piece containing glass fibres or carbon fibres is protected against the accumulation of electric charges or impact from lightning by a metallisation of the surface to be protected. The metallisation includes a screen (31) of an electrically conductive material covered with a layer of an electrically conductive paint (32). A sizing and priming layer (33) is also provided between the screen and the conductive paint, as well as a finish paint covering the conductive paint (32). The assembly results in a protection against impacts from lightning with a reduced size as compared to traditional metallisations with a metal screen.

  • Publication number: 20110231125
Abstract: A detection wire cutter including a conducting wire mechanically secured to a structure that is to be monitored. This wire is electrically powered at one end and at another end feeds back an electrical voltage corresponding to the power supplied, provided that the structure that is to be monitored has not undergone unacceptable mechanical damage. As an improvement, two arrays of wires extending over flat supports in two directions in space are proposed. Each array is powered by a distinct network electrical supply. The two networks extend in layers, with parallel wire portions. The position of a crack does not impede the passage of current between certain terminals, but certain other terminals will no longer receive any current because the crack has broken a network supply general connection between the connection of one wire and that of another.

  • Publication number: 20110185245
Abstract: To produce a memory which resists ion or photon attack, a memory structure is chosen whose memory point behaves asymmetrically with regard to these attacks. It is shown that in this case, it is sufficient to have a reference cell for an identical and periodic storage structure in order to be able to correct all the memory cells assailed by an attack. An error correction efficiency of ½ is thus obtained, with a simple redundancy, whereas the conventional methods make provision, for the same result, to triple the storage, to obtain a less beneficial efficiency of ?.

  • Publication number: 20110170964
Abstract: In order to effect drilling without any risk of blockage of the cutting tool used, a drilling device uses means for producing a self-maintained axial vibration of the tool that has the effect of breaking up the swarf of the material removed from the hole in order to facilitate discharge thereof. The means for producing the self-maintained axial vibration are also such that the spindle of the tool can have a direction substantially different from the rotation axis of the means used for rotating the tool. Such a device is particularly advantageous for producing deep holes or during the use of cutting tools producing asymmetric cutting forces. In a particularly advantageous embodiment, the means for producing the self-maintained axial vibration and for enabling the rotation axis of the tool to have a direction substantially different from the rotation axis of the drive means form part of the cutting tool.

  • Patent number: 7896994
Abstract: A method for assembling at least two rigid thermoplastic material based parts. The two parts are superposed to have at least one interface zone, wherein at least one of the two parts includes one or plural energy directors, protruding, situated in the interface zone. At least one excited ultrasonic source is brought into contact with one of the two parts, the ultrasonic source applying a compression effort to the two parts in a region of the interface zone located opposite the ultrasonic source. The ultrasonic source is continuously displaced at the interface zone to form a continuous welded joint by fusion of the thermoplastic material in the region positioned opposite the ultrasonic source. • Publication number: 20110046996
Abstract: According to the invention, to determine an operating forecast for a system, measurements are taken of an environmental value in an environment surrounding the system. Then these measurements are processed in a processing unit in order to determine how much of the system's lifetime has been consumed. The consumed lifetime is based on a history of the system in the environment. This is used to calculate a forecast of a good operating lifetime. According to the invention, this forecast determination is made by adaptive linear regression. Thus, all forecast calculations are simplified and can be performed by the system itself and in real-time.
