  • Patent number: 8488718
Abstract: An emission chain, comprising a processing pathway for an input signal which includes a digital signal decomposition according to N signal components, with N an integer greater than or equal to 2. The N signal components being converted from a digital form into an analog form and following distinct physical pathways that induce first respective delays on the N signal components. A delayed input signal is obtained by applying a second delay (?) having a value greater than or equal to the maximum value of the first delays. Next, N correction delays (???i) are applied respectively to the N signal components based on a comparison between said input signal delayed by the second delay and the signal to be emitted. Finally, the signal to be provided to a power amplifier is obtained by combining the N signal components obtained on completion of the previous step.

  • Patent number: 8447286
Abstract: In a communication system at least one operational criterion is applied for a group of one or more users. On the basis of such operational criterion, one or more interface rules are generated. An interface rule includes information that identifies an application that is capable of utilizing two or more communication interfaces, and also a function for determining a communication interface to be applied by that application in communications of the group of one or more users. A profile that includes interface rules generated on the basis of operational criteria to be applied for a user is created and stored in a user terminal of the user. Use of applications can be matched with operational requirements posed on or by the user, without substantial need to change the applications and/or the configuration of the terminal due to the matching.

  • Patent number: 8401131
Abstract: To reduce interferences in signals received by a receiver through a propagation channel, each including symbols distributed according to frequency and time dimensions and corresponding to a common emitted signal, the receiver weights an estimate of the emitted signal and the received signals by weighting vectors evolving in vector subspaces representing time variations and frequency variations of the channels for propagating the signals between an emitter and the receiver. These vector subspaces are defined by matrices, some columns of which are suppressed as a function of frequency and time constraints of the channel. The receiver minimizes a function of the difference between the sum of weighted received signals and the weighted estimate of the emitted signal in order to estimate the emitted signal as a function of the weighting vectors and the received signals.

  • Patent number: 8306069
Abstract: The invention relates to synchronization applied to a data stream structured as super-frames. Each block in a super-frame comprises a slow synchronization part and at least one traffic frame. The slow synchronization parts in the super-frame result at least from a decomposition of a synchronization management word. Additional synchronization parts similar to the slow synchronization parts and distributed in place of traffic frame bits in the super-frame are inserted in the super-frame. The invention provides for fast synchronization coexisting with a pre-existing slow synchronization without increasing the bandwidth. The invention is particularly applicable to cryptographic synchronization between fixed and/or mobile terminal equipments operating in interconnected dissimilar networks whose synchronization time constants differ.

  • Patent number: 8284864
Abstract: A radio communication emitter includes at least two antennas for emitting a signal including encoded bits that are converted into symbols distributed on subcarriers and in time intervals. The emitter includes a signal divider for distributing the set of the signal symbols into as many disjoined subsets of signal symbols as the antennas that the emitter comprises. Each subset is dedicated to one of the antennas. The union of the subsets is the set of the signal symbols. Symbols are distributed in at least two subsets for at least one time interval or for at least one subcarrier of the signal. The antennas synchronously emit the symbol subsets. The symbol subsets can comprise a substantially identical number of symbols to reduce a deviation between the power peaks and the average power of the signal emitted by each antenna.

  • Patent number: 8270407
Abstract: A method for managing a data stream in a communication system. One or more user stations and switching and management infrastructure are configured with a function that maps packet data protocol addresses of data transmissions to defined service access point identifiers. A packet data context for data transmissions of a packet data service is created by associating a packet data protocol address with a service access point identifier used in an interface between one or more user stations and the switching and management structure. A function is used for determining independently in the one or more user stations or the switching and management infrastructure the service access point identifiers for data transmissions of the packet data service.

  • Patent number: 8064448
Abstract: An identifier (IDp) designates a group of terminals accessible via the network (RP) by packets having a multicast address as destination address. An equipment (EIm) between the network and a terminal (Tn) belonging to a group calculates the multicast address of the group using a function depending on the identifier (IDp) of the group each time that a packet including a message transmitted by the terminal is to be transmitted to the network. The equipment also calculates a group identifier (IDp) using a function depending on a multicast address extracted each time that a packet transmitted from the network is received by the equipment in order to transmit a message content extracted from the packet to be received by the terminal if the calculated group identifier is identical to the identifier of the group to which the terminal belongs. No table of mappings between the identifiers of the groups and the multicast addresses is stored in the equipment.

  • Patent number: 8040967
Abstract: A signal is received in a telecommunication network in the form of P signals received on P corresponding antennas, where P is greater than or equal to 1. The received signals correspond to a multi-carrier signal transmitted in the form of flames comprising symbols occupying corresponding positions distributed along a time axis and along a frequency axis; a frame comprising M blocks each having at least N reference symbols. The reference symbols in each of the blocks satisfy a first maximum spacing between each other along the time axis and a second maximum spacing between each other along the frequency axis, less than a first value and a second value respectively, M being an integer number equal to at least two. M estimated noise power values are determined at frame level, each related to one of the M emitted reference symbol blocks. Values of the estimated noise power for the other symbols in the frame are then obtained from the determined estimated noise power values.

Abstract: A signal is received by P antennas. It includes frames having symbols occupying respective positions distributed along an axis of time and of frequency, a frame including M blocks having N reference symbols M groups of P weighting coefficients are determined, each one of the groups relating to one of the blocks emitted, with the coefficients of a group being associated to the blocks which are received on the P antennas and which correspond to the block emitted relating to the group. The coefficients are determined so as to increase via a threshold value, an error value for each block emitted, between the reference symbols of the block emitted, and the symbols obtained using the symbols received on each antenna at the positions of reference symbols corresponding to the block emitted and the associated coefficients.

  • Patent number: 8014778
Abstract: A mobile terminal of a digital cellular radiocommunication system that is in the receiving phase in a group call while roaming in a current cell, indicates to a fixed network element of the system, a given destination cell out of a number N of cells adjacent to the current cell. The system uses a time and/or frequency division multiple access method, and any modulation method. The mobile terminal sends an identification sequence of the destination cell in a time slot of an inbound signaling channel which is a contention channel. The identification sequence comprises a predetermined identification pattern out of a determined number P of identification patterns of different respective values, where P is an integer number such that 1<P?N. The values of the P identification patterns are such that they correspond to mutually-orthogonal modulated signals.

  • Patent number: 7974592
Abstract: A transmission chain comprises a power amplifier adapted for receiving as input a signal to be amplified Sw(t) and for providing as output an amplified signal Dw(t); a predistortion module comprising a linearization unit adapted for applying a predistortion coefficient W(t) to an input signal S(t), and a unit for determining said predistortion coefficient. The input signal S(t) is received and the amplified signal Dw(t) is received through a return pathway, at the level of the unit for determining the predistortion coefficient, and the predistortion coefficient is determined on the basis of a comparison between the input signal and the amplified signal. Next, at the level of the linearization unit, the predistortion coefficient is applied to the input signal to provide as output the signal to be amplified. The determining unit determines the predistortion coefficient on the basis of a first-order approximation of the input signal.
