Patents Assigned to Earl's Supply Co.
  • Patent number: 5908090
Abstract: A flexible brake hose assembly which is less expandable than traditional O.E.M. brake hose assemblies and thereby improves efficiency of the entire braking system. The assembly incorporates a short piece of more flexible hose (similar to the O.E.M. brake hose) to act as a whip dampener which assures the survival of the assembly during the D.O.T. whip test and under the real life conditions than the tests represent.

  • Patent number: 5875872
Abstract: A whip dampener mounting bracket assembly is disclosed having a whip dampener member mounted between the brake caliper of a vehicle and the brake master cylinder. The bracket assembly utilizes the preexisting frame bracket of the vehicle and an auxiliary bracket mounted thereto coupled by a flexible spring to a second auxiliary bracket. The whip dampener member is mounted on the second auxiliary bracket. The flexible hose of the assembly passes from the caliper, through the whip dampener, through the first auxiliary bracket and the vehicle frame bracket to the brake master cylinder. This assembly allows the use of preexisting tubing between the vehicle frame bracket and the brake master cylinder without need for coiling the tubing coupling the assembly to the master cylinder. The flexing of the hose is increased.

  • Patent number: 5325915
Abstract: A modular cooler having a plurality of units which can be interconnected in a leak proof manner yet providing fluid flow therebetween. The cooler can be an oil or transmission fluid cooler and any suitable number of units and any suitable number of units may be stacked. Thus, a single unit can be used in conjunction with like units to provide any desired degree of cooling. The coolers are interconnected by fluid tight members between stacked units and by a nipple assembly on the uppermost unit having an adjustable member coupled to a sealing member on the lowermost unit.

  • Patent number: 5186033
Abstract: Apparatus and method for forming external raised beads on hollow rigid tubing. The apparatus includes an adjusting screw threadably mounted into a threaded body member having one or more balls mounted in apertures in the body member. The body member is inserted into one end of the hollow tubing, the balls being disposed inside of the body member between a reduced diameter portion of the screw and the inner wall of the body member. When the screw is threaded into the body member, the balls are forced outwardly against the inner wall of the tubing forming a raised bead on the exterior of the tubing. Continued rotation of the screw and body member increases the height of the bead.

  • Patent number: 4817996
Abstract: An adjustable and detachable fitting assembly for reinforced hose having an inner fluid sealing tube and an outer reinforcement. The assembly has a nipple insertible into the tube and a sleeve surrounding the nipple but spaced therefrom so that a cutting edge on the sleeve separates the tube structure allowing one separated portion of the tube to fill the space between the sleeve and nipple with the outer separated portion of the tube and the reinforcement filling a space between the outer surface of the sleeve and a socket threaded thereto. The sleeve rotates about the nipple and is longitudinally adjustable with respect thereto while maintaining connection of the sleeve to the nipple. This allows for compensation for misalignment.

  • Patent number: 4736969
Abstract: A fitting assembly for a hose comprising a nipple having a plurality of spaced separate annular barbs thereon adapted to dig into the internal wall of a hose and threads remote from said barbs for coupling the nipple to a socket. A socket is provided which includes internal threads for threading engagement to the threads on said nipple and spaced internal annular teeth adapted to bite or dig into the outer wall of a hose thereby crushing and clamping a hose between the barbs and teeth and filling the space between the nipple and socket adjacent the barbs and teeth when the socket is threaded to said nipple. In this manner, the socket is retained to the nipple separate from the seal provided between the nipple, socket and hose and oil cannot leak past the barbs and teeth.
