Patents Assigned to Easco Hand Tool, Inc.
  • Patent number: 4941570
Abstract: This invention to a case for storing and dispensing sockets from matching grooves. A desired socket can be visually selected through at least one of transparent end pieces which close opposite ends of the grooves. The desired socket can be dispensed by positioning a belt which wraps around the grooves to retain the socket therein, to bring an aperture opposite the groove matching the desired socket.

  • Patent number: 4825732
Abstract: A molded elastomeric sleeve is carried on a conventional wrench socket. The sleeve has a radially extending boss, a recess formed in the boss and a peripheral rim formed about the boss defining the recess therein. The sleeve has an internal annular groove formed therein as well as a radial passageway which extends from the groove to the recess. Adhesive is injected into the annular groove via the radial passageway, whereby the sleeve is secured to the socket. A size indicia label is provided having adhesive thereon. This label is positioned in the recess below the rim of the boss covering the radial passageway, where it is secured by the adhesive. The sleeve further has suitable knurls formed on the outer diameter of the sleeve. The knurls and the boss prevent the socket from rolling, if placed sideways on a flat surface. The knurls and the boss also facilitate manual rotation of the socket. After forming, the sleeve is axially oriented and slidably positioned on a portion of the socket.

  • Patent number: 4800786
Abstract: A molded elastomeric sleeve is secured on the rear portion of a conventional socket for a hand ratchet wrench. Size indicia are carried by the sleeve for ready identification of the socket, and knurls on the sleeve facilitate a manual gripping of the socket for rotation thereof, whenever desired. In a preferred embodiment, the sleeve has a readily-projecting boss provided with a rim and a recess therein. A pressure-sensitive adhesive label, which carries the size indicia, is disposed within the recess below the rim on the boss. An internal annular groove is formed in the sleeve adjacent to the socket, and an adhesive is injected into the internal annular groove via at least one passageway formed in the sleeve. The passageway opens into the recess in the boss on the socket, and the passageway is subsequently covered by the pressure-sensitive adhesive label.

  • Patent number: 4724730
Abstract: A cam lock socket has a plurality of pins having substantially oval-shaped cross-sections. The pins are received in complementary axially-extending circumferentially-spaced scalloped recesses formed in the socket body. When the socket is rotated in one direction or another, the pins are cammed out of their respective recesses to tighten on a nut (or the head of a bolt or stud). Means are provided for retaining the pins axially and radially in the socket body, and to preclude the pins from tilting about their respective longitudinal axes.In one embodiment, outwardly-extending fins on the pins are received in an internal annular groove formed in the socket body, and a resilient retaining ring is received in slots formed on the inside of pins. In another embodiment, a flanged bushing is mounted in the bore of the socket body and cooperates with inwardly-extending fins on the pins. The flange on the bushing carries a resilient O-ring which bears against the respective pins.

  • Patent number: 4529071
Abstract: A ratcheting tool has a handle mounted on a ratchet housing. The ratchet housing has a blind axial bore formed therein. A driven shank has a rearward portion nested partially in the bore, and a ratchet is formed externally on the rearward portion of the shank. A cam is seated in the bore, rearwardly of the ratchet, and is pivotable substantially about the axis of the bore. The cam has a bore formed therein, and a thrust ball is seated in the cam bore axially between the bottom of the blind axial bore in the ratchet housing and the rearward portion of the shank, thereby accommodating axial thrust loads on the tool. A selector pin is carried by the cam and extends radially therefrom through an arcuate slot in the ratchet housing. A pair of L-shaped pawls are alternately actuated by the cam. The pawls have respective leg portions extending forwardly to engage the ratchet, thereby alternately keying the ratchet to the ratchet housing.
