  • Patent number: 6527487
Abstract: The present invention relates to an adjustable, locking cargo control system for a vehicle such as a flat bed trailer, van type trailer, train, airplane or the like. The tie down system comprises at least one groove within the floor of the truck trailer. Each groove has a flange extending inward on either side of the groove. One of the flanges has a plurality of notches formed in it. The system includes at least one tie down member comprising an anchor hook insertable into the groove wherein the hook registers against an anchor flange opposite the flange having the plurality of notches. Each tie down member further comprises at least one boss extending therefrom which is positioned and sized to engage at least one of the notches in the notched flange in a manner preventing the tie down member from sliding along the groove. A tie down chain or cable is attached to the tie down member in a manner to secure a load to the floor of the or other portion of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6357818
Abstract: This invention relates to a trailer body including a wiring protection system wherein a trailer body is supported at least in part on a plurality of wheels and has at least a floor associated therewith. The trailer body includes a wiring system to supply electrical energy to components situated at positions about the body of the trailer. The wiring system includes a plurality of individual wire sections being selectively coupled to the components via an electrical splice adjacent the component. A sealing compound is formed into a sheet member having a predetermined configuration, with the sheet member being selectively attachable to a surface of the trailer body about the electrical splice and adjacent the electrical component. The sealing compound will seal the splice from the external environment and maintain the position of the wire section including the splice in relation to the trailer body.

  • Patent number: 6174023
Abstract: For a truck trailer bed or a truck cargo enclosure including one or more compartmented, hollow floor sections, a reinforcement system is provided. The system makes use of strip-like metal inserts which are introduced into selected compartments of the flooring sections that lie beneath a relatively compact, heavy object such as a coil of flat-rolled steel or like cargo. The inserts preferably will be fabricated from the same metallic substance as the flooring sections and will be of a transverse cross section that is identical to the compartments provided in the flooring sections. Having such a cross section, the inserts will fill the selected flooring section compartments and increase the rigidity and resistance of the compartments to damage caused by the concentrated object loading thereon.

  • Patent number: 5655792
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a unique composite trailer and van type container for the transport and management of bulk freight utilizing steel and aluminum components to take advantage of the durability and light weight of aluminum components and the proven strength and fabrication ease of structural steel. More particularly, the composite trailer and container comprises the integration of two dissimilar metals secured together by using a bi-metal intermediate element. The bi-metal intermediate element provides for the welding of different metals together thereby forming a superior bond between the intermediate element and dissimilar metals. This construction also makes it possible to eliminate the galvanic corrosion so often experienced with contact between different metals.
