  • Patent number: 9606439
Abstract: A conductive pattern can be formed using a polymeric layer that contains a reactive composition that comprises a reactive polymer that is metal ion-complexing, water-soluble, and crosslinkable. This reactive polymer comprises photosensitive non-aromatic heterocyclic groups each of these groups comprising a carbon-carbon double bond in conjugation with an electron withdrawing group, as well as metal ion-complexing and water solubilizing groups. The reactive composition can be patternwise exposed to suitable radiation to induce crosslinking within the reactive polymer. The reactive composition and reactive polymer in the non-exposed regions can be removed due to their aqueous solubility, but the exposed regions of the polymeric layer are contacted with electroless seed metal ions, which are then reduced. The resulting electroless seed metal nuclei are electrolessly plated with a suitable metal to form the desired conductive pattern.

  • Patent number: 9592691
Abstract: A method for correcting image plane registration errors for a multi-channel printing system that prints documents of a particular document-type classification having a variable number of pages. An image plane registration error database stores image plane registration error information characterizing image plane registration errors as a function of page number for each of a plurality of different page-count classifications. A page-count classification is determined for a document to be printed, and image plane registration correction values are determined for each page based on the stored image plane registration error information associated with the determined page-count classification, wherein the image plane registration correction values for each page are determined based on the stored image plane registration error information for the corresponding page number. The image data for each document page of the document is then printed responsive to the corresponding image plane registration correction values.

  • Patent number: 9565337
Abstract: A computational halftoning process determines a halftoned image having halftoned pixel values by processing an array of input pixels. For each input pixel, an array of high-resolution printer coordinates is defined at a higher spatial resolution than the printer resolution, and a coordinate transformation is applied to determine a corresponding array of high-resolution dot coordinates. An array of high-resolution halftoned pixel values is then determined responsive to the code value of the input pixel by addressing a halftone dot function using the array of high-resolution dot coordinates. A halftoned pixel value is then determined by averaging the high-resolution halftoned pixel values.
